You are old enough to know not to believe everything you hear.

In campus, the construction near the deck and lot is for facilities since they will lose their spot to the new science building.

“Op-Ed: Light rail development is failing in University City. Here’s why”

This was written by Martin Zimmerman, facilities planning director for UNC Charlotte in the 1990s.

They’ve decided to not renovate Sanford and Moore halls. Going to demo the towers and replace with a single 750-800 bed complex.

Damn…thats really tough to hear (as a former resident). Those buildings had some special memories and in my mind are a key part of the fabric of UNC Charlotte. Sucks to see they’re coming down.

Seems like that would be a net decrease in total beds.

Had some good times in Moore back in the day. Hated those early morning fire drills though. Not fun walking down from the 11th floor.

Net decrease of 200 beds.
I hear ya about the fire alarms, 11th floor Sanford here.

I hate to see the university skyline take a hit. With the loss of these two and bell tower, campus is a lot less visible from afar.

I always liked the view coming down mallard creek church towards Tryon, but it isnt the same without the belk tower.

Soon won’t even have the smokestack either. :stuck_out_tongue:

RIP “sausage hall” & the “virgin vault”.

Reference probably wasted on anyone who attended in the late 90s or later.

I know Sanford was an all girls highrise… sororities, right?

When I was there, guys could not go into Sanford after midnight unless a girl came down to escort him in. But it was ok to leave anytime you wanted to.

clt says the ho house will remain indefinite,

Looks like the trains are up and testing at full speed going on and off of campus. Phil got himself a nice test ride. 8)

Kids leaving this school will be the worst for demanding high salaries. They will need them to keep up with this lifestyle.
