South Alabama is playing Queen’s University, the University of Ottawa and Carleton University.

Not sure if that covers all the US colleges playing in Canada.
Since UNC-R, Illinois, Villanova, Alabama, Kansas, S. Ala, ETSU, Penn St & Mercer are all gonna be in the area this weekend, it shouldn’t be too hard for Bobby to find a road game for December 13th.

He’s got a captive audience. Until hockey season, there is nothing else to do in Canada

Illinois played up there last year so I doubt they are up there again (i think ncaa only allows a trip once every four years).

Very nice article. I hope Coleman is healthy enough to get some work in.

Nice to see the scoring is going well so far.

It’s interesting to see that Harris started, though he sure did make the best of it for sure. I wonder if Gerrity will start the next game.

Thanks Jim and Tom Whitestone. Obviously the quickness of Dijuan and athletic ability of Coley were too much for the canadians. We’ve got a great mix of guys. If someone can shoot it and Jones gives us some good minutes, we’ll be in great shape.

How did Mack and Big Phil do?

Did anyone find web feeds audio or video from the U of Toronto site or others?

Big Phil had eight points, four rebounds and three blocks in 17 minutes.

Big Phil had eight points, four rebounds and three blocks in 17 minutes.
GREAT news. Phill's gonna be tough to deal with before everything is said and done.

I know its just an exibition but it looks like Lutz has given Bowden the green light. 17 shots for a freshman.

Awesome job, thanks Jim! The box score is great!!!
Notables (that I caught);

 • Bench came up w 48 pts
 • Javarris went 3-6 including 1-4 from ft line
 • Dewhurst is just a stat filler, 12 pts, 10 rbs, 2 assists, 2 steals, o to’s, 0 fouls
 • I love Harris’ hustle, 9 pts, 7 assts, 1 to, 7 steals??
 • Phil looks to have done well in 17 min. 3-7 from the field and 3 blocks (to go w 4 boards).
 • Our two pg’s combined for 12 assists to just 2 to’s.
 • Lamont had a quiet night but had 4 assists.
 • Bowden went 5-17??

22 assists on 35 baskets is a nice clip and only 9 turnovers is good. That’s one of the few things I really look at hard when we play exhibitions.

ouch! shooting woes for Toronto (edit: wrong box score)
In their first of three NCAA match-ups this Labour Day weekend, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues fell to the Charlotte 49ers 88-59 at the Athletics Centre Sports Gym.

Both teams looked rusty to start the game with Charlotte holding a slim 5-0 advantage half way through the first frame. Things started to pick up as the Blues got on the board in a hurry with two quick baskets by fourth-year guard Rob Paris (St. Catharines, Ont.), and with less than two minutes to play in quarter the Blues would take their first lead of the game, 11-9, after some hard work under the basket by 6-foot-7 forward Nick Snow (London, Ont.).

This two-point lead would, unfortunately, be the last of the game. With the score tied at 15 at then end of the first quarter, the 49ers would take control of the game over the next 30 minutes with a tenacious full court press and quick transitions.

Charlotte, who finished fourth in the Atlantic 10 conference in 2007-08, was led by senior guard Charlie Coley’s (Lake Worth, Fla.) 15 points and six boards, while Charlotte-native Charles Dewhurst chipped in with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Gritty defence and fast break points were the keys to victory for the 49ers, while the Blues continuously found themselves trying to recover from turnovers and missed opportunities.

Toronto shot 32.4% (23-71) and turned the ball over 23 times, while Charlotte went 35-84 (41.7%) and only coughed up the ball nine times over four quarters.

Coley’s a guard… :lmao:…do maybe DiJuan is a Forward?

Just reading Utter’s coverage and Whitestone’s blog is making me so excited for basketball to start!!!

Wow…123-59. Completely obliterated them.

From York’s website: http://www.yorku.ca/sprtyork/MediaReleases/Archive/Release.asp?Release=2279

Any reason State only managed 81 on those guys when we got 123?

bowden 21pts nice
