I'm not gonna say that Metro's not over the top sometimes. So what? He's a former athlete who champions the school. He's not the kind of person you want run off.

ooh, uh, yeah. i’m going to have to go ahead and sort of disagree with you there. yeah..

disband baseball team
focus on academics.

where is mary when you need her?

You’re just a name on a computer screen. metro is a person and fairly visable as our fans go.

Could you imagine how great the PR would be if we had Metro saying, yeah I was a former All American at Charlotte, but the fan base there said we didn’t need fans like me? So, I’m throwing my hat into the tarheel ring like countless others!

I’m not saying you have to agree with anything he says, but to say he shouldn’t be a vocal fan of our program is silly. You want people who have brought positive attention to our school to stay on board. There are a few former athletes who post here and I hope they all stay life long fans.

And again, you don’t have to agree with what anyone says, but why would you want to keep fans away? Except for dax.

ouch

the funny thing is these people know I’m right about the Clemson-Niner coverage being horsecrap, but they like and are friends with the Observer guys, or so want their endorsement so bad that they rush to their defense. sad

sometimes a spade is a spade

over the top is the only way sometimes. see football. you have a bunch of people who don’t know what they’re talking about screaming at you that what you’re doing is impossible. why? because they know they literally mean nothing and their voice of opposition is the only thing they have left. i might agree that a lot of us take it over the top with the observer…but only considering we don’t need to say anything…no one buys it anyway.

Good point, it would be great to have a former athlete say great things about the school and support it both in athletics and academics, but the impression I get from his posts are that he can’t stand the school, the administration or anything they do.

Let’s just accept the fact that the O is an ACC paper and move on. Nothing against Mike P or anyone in the O sports department but other than Utter are there any UNC Charlotte grads on the paper sports staff? I know Scotty’s dad and Tom S. have been mostly positive toward us but it’s a stretch to expect graduates of other schools to care about us. Especially when their schools and the school’s they’ve played every year for 60 will not play us. If ACC schools didn’t avoid us like the plague then perhaps the O would take notice but they won’t play us for obvious reasons and if we don’t register to the ACC schools then the O will not care. This would not change even if we were in the Big East. Even if the majority of people in this region eventually pull for us as their #1 team the O will still be full of ACC lovers. It’s called myopia and the O sports staff can only see 3 letters: ACC.

can't stand the school?

Judy and CHP are pretty big failures, but I love my alma mater. Neither is a Niner, and neither have UNC Charlottes’ best interest.

I can understand metro’s frustration. I don’t agree with everything the guy says, or everything anyone says (especially that communist NLP) but he’s still a fan of our school.

Also, you can cherry pick his posts and find the negative, but there are plenty of positives in there too. His war against Judy Rose has softened greatly with the new baseball stadium.

I hate that even have to defend a poster on this message board. I guess now that most of the “bad guy” posters are either banned or have given up on this program, we have to have villians. I just wish we could unify against Persinger, Eye of the 71-70 and Powerbait.

i just can’t stand that guy.

For the record, I disagree. I have NEVER met Metro/Tim, but he is exactly what we need more of—diehard Niners who love our school and will not bow down to any others or make excuses for groups working against our school’s best interests (whether intentionally or not).

Also, as I recall—Metro didn’t claim he was NEVER going to post as some of you seem to be insinuating. I seem to remember him posting that he intended to post LESS in the new year and I believe he has.

Goodness, guys. The pictures moved through AP, taken by the Anderson paper's photographer. That we had photos AT ALL of a college baseball game is stunning. We ran every photo we got from AP, we didn't cherry pick anything.

If this is the reason you cancel, I won’t stand in your way.

There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with a policy or decision, but why should he or anyone, have a ‘war’ against Judy, or anyone else?

This has evolved from where it started, but let me just say again. I don’t agree with everything that comes out of Metro’s mouth/keyboard, but that doesn’t mean that he shouldn’t be a part of the program.

And, in case you missed it, I did say I don’t understand why we fight each other at all. That goes to everyone that posts. There have been serious hissy fits throughout niner fandom, and I understand that people don’t like each other, but I know that there are people who have become more disillusioned with our program because they have been chased off or alienated by other fans of our program.

I just don’t see the benefit in telling fellow fans to screw off.
