No way I take a Qb at 6 in this draft
Maybe we need to look at these coaches to help us. And while we are at it try to coerce Luke Keuchly into helping us on defense.
That’s why you get paid the big bucks. I would take a qb anywhere in the first round if I thought he was franchise caliber. The combine will be more telling, but Pickett sure looks like a winner on the NFL level. There is a star qb in almost every nfl draft, but not always who was anointed one before playing in the nfl. If one isn’t there at 6, Panthers should go offensive line
I’d only do it if the front office was able to secure starting caliber players at LT, C, and OG/OT from other sources. If you can build the line from trades and free agency without taking scabs and guys on their way out of the league, go for it. Otherwise, I would build the lines first.

I’m still mad the Panthers didn’t take Slater with their first pick last year, at least then we would have him at LT, Moton and RT and could probably get a decent C or G in the second round and another in Free Agency, like I said above we pretty much need 4 new offensive lineman next year, maybe 3 if you believe in Christensen. That is so hard to do in one offseason.
It’s amazing how bad the Panthers have done with personnel decisions over the last 12 months, the QB decisions, the O line. I’m curious how much of this is Rhule and how much of it is Fritterer, maybe after next season we will know. Will be an interesting 4 months till the draft.
They passed on center Creed Humphrey in the 2nd round for and guard Trey Smith in the 6th.
The Chiefs took both and they’re starters on that offensive line.
The Panthers took an injured corner (Horn over Slater), injured WR and injured LONG SNAPPER over those three guys. Absolutely infuriating.
Holy shit if this is the best we can get just fire everyone now… the guys was a O coordinator for 1 year and he just got fired with tons more talent than we do… good lord.
I wanna say that Mitch “Cup-check” opened my eyes to all the mediocrity we have settled for in this city with our pro (and to some extent college) athletic teams. Yes a basketball roster has fewer spots to manage, but he inherited a roster with no star players and a bunch of bloated contracts and has already dug us out of that hole. That’s something none of his predecessors came close to accomplishing. IMO we are one star player away from being a real force in the East and he did this very quickly. Just having Lamelo (a pick I stupidly questioned) and Miles Bridges gives us star power we haven’t had since the LJ-Zo-Muggsy era (we still need our 3rd star to equal that setup).
Maybe it’s my 15+ years of Niner disappointments but I’m really sick of settling for mediocrity or worse.
And I have zero tolerance for it from a professional sports franchise. Winning is literally their only point in existing.
His comments on Slater were one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard from any person associated with athletics in this city.
Nothing from Jets/Giants. Not even a box of jock straps. That’s football purgatory up there.
