I know which poster said what, but YOU did make a similar, supporting comment, so I replied to youā¦you donāt like it? Tough⦠BTW, please share with me my post stating that I think Bryce is worth whatever we gave up for him. Iāll wait.
I just saw Stroudās name flash on ESPN as a potential MVP candidate. He is obviously better than Young and Kenny Montana right now. Stroud is in a good situation in large part because he has made it a good situation.
Teppers leadership with panthers has yielded one of the worst run teams in professional sports - in every aspect not just wins and losses. The reason people think Bryce sucks is because everything they have done sucks.
There was a tweet that showed how many 2nd round and on draft picks had been busts / misses in the Tepper / Fitterer era. It was nearly all of them. Great graphic.
All those misses put us in a position to have a not quite high enough draft pick to get a franchise QB, so they mortgaged our future to take a chance on an undersized QB without providing him any other pieces to be successful.
The entire run has been a textbook example of how the front office leadership can run a franchise into the ground and destroy the career of a promising player in the process.
Nothing is changing until the people in charge change.
Panthers had the 15th ranked o-line per PFF at the end of last season. Houstonās O-line was 26th. They havenāt played well this season but Dalton was able to put together a pretty good game behind this line and with this group of receivers. Iām not saying Bryce is a bust but I do think he deserves some of the blame for how bad the rest of the offense looks. When you trade 2 first round picks and a #1 wide receiver for the #1 pick, you better get a player that can make everyone else around him better. Hopefully he can eventually do that. Iām not upset with the way heās playing but I am upset that it looks like the Panthers did a poor job evaluating who they should have picked.
I bet Tepper was there in Pittsburgh second guessing and criticizing the Rooneyās decisions as a minority owner of the Steelers. He probably supported the most screwed up decision ever made by Art Rooney II, which was letting Bruce Arians go in 2012. The accepted thought process leaked was that they wanted to protect Big Ben. Well, they might have gotten many more years of their Franchise QB, but it probably cost them another Super Bowl with Arians and Big Ben, who were an unstoppable combination.
An NFL owner has every right to insert themselves into critical draft and personnel decisions. They hold to money and sign the checks. They also can really screw things up big time. Jerry Jones is a big example in thinking he could easily replace genius Jimmy Johnson with Dumb and lazy Barry Switzer.
However, Rooney and Jones are elite and great franchise owners. They have the hardware and wins to show it. Tepper is in the worst of categories, like the owner of the Browns and the previous Redskins owner. They insert themselves into all major decisions then fire everyone when their decisions crash and burn. They got nothing to show for it but what they can milk from the NFL, their fans and their local communities. Running a Football franchise is their amateur hobby.
Our line was ranked 15th when we were a down hill , power/ smash mouth running team with play action. That same line trying to do a WCO offense is a totally different animal. Our offensive and defensive schemes are not set up for our personnel and we have Scott Fiterer choosing players.
I agree there are lots of other major issues with the Panthers. Fiterrer should never be allowed to oversee another draft. I just donāt think that the situation Stroud is in is as perfect as some are making it out to be. Before the season I heard all of the local sports talk media talking about Young stepping into a great situation for a young qb and it being better than most #1 picks situation since the Panthers almost made the playoffs last season. I donāt think anyone was talking about the great situation Stroud was stepping into.
All true-----but you donāt have to be a high football IQ guy to see that Stroudās O-Line is performing MUCH better than expected and the Panthers O-Line is performing MUCH worse than expected. Not to mention, Houstonās WRs look better than the Panthers WRs do as well (ie; they actually create separation).
