Carolina Panthers 🐈‍⬛

I don’t see anything improving until Tepper sells the team.

No decent coach or GM is going to want to come work for him.

Tepper has now owned the team for less than 6 full seasons and has fired 3 coaches mid season, including the latest one after less than one season. He has to take a step away from being involved in every decision. At this point he basically needs to hire a firm to go find the best HC and GM (I don’t trust his judgement to do it himself), pay a ridiculous salary, and promise not to meddle. It’s the only way any of this will change. But I think his ego is too big to do that.

clt says we need biff to buy the panthers

Reich never had a chance but it’s not like he killed it at Indy either.

I just hope Ben Johnson doesn’t take this job. He needs to go somewhere with a better situation. I fully expect the Chargers guy to be canned. That would be a chance to win pretty quickly. Raiders may move on from Pierce too and they have lots of talent on O but may need an upgrade at QB. Depends on the next 5 games for him. Washington is a mess too but Howell may be ok.

I don’t think Harbaugh would touch the Panthers job but enough money could change that

Bill Cowher

I’m not sure Cowher wants to coach again. Gotta a great gig now

I think he might, but publicly has stated he is probably done. His NC ties have me wondering if he would. If he did, he would put Tepper away from most all football operations and season coaching micromanagement. I think he is one of the few coaches that Tepper would be forced to do that for. Very much a long shot. Whomever it is, Tepper needs protection from himself

Cowher would be an awesome choice. Wonder if he and Tepper crossed paths in Pitt and if what they thought of each other.

Might be pie in the sky though

I don’t think coaching is the problem. New coaches won’t make a damn difference until personnel on the field is NFL caliber.

The thing is, a good GM won’t come here either, because of Tepper, as I and others pointed out earlier. So firing Fitterer won’t even solve the problem (even though his drafts have sucked, objectively).

Tepper throwing a pile of money at Harbaugh would be within character because of the way Tepper’s name is being dragged through the mud. He would see it as a cost of doing business / maintaining the brand(s). Put the focus on a high profile coach and then go lower profile for a bit. He is seen as doing something about it and then meddling less (even if he still does).

clt is hearing billichek to the panthers

Do we really want Biff playing Madden on the sidelines? Calling down to the field to go for it on 4th and 1 on our own 9 in the 1st quarter when we are winning 7-0? lol. Whoever was responsible for that decision is just playing a game.

In addition to all the buyout money, let’s remember that he is doing the same thing with his MLS team.

Why would ANYONE, who values their career long term, want to work for this guy?

At best, if it was going to be a potential last stop, maybe someone would do it for a big enough bag of money and at least some initial assurance that DT was gonna stay the F out of your business. I wouldn’t expect that promise to mean a thing, but maybe it’d buy you a few weeks of peace.

Reich wasn’t a good fit but Tepper is showing he is just one of the worst football / futbol owners around. Definitely don’t expect the latter to make the right hires for the Panthers and CLTFC this time around either. Total dysfunction on Mint Street.
