Halton needs 1 or 2 2nd level led boards wrapping around somehow
clt says give haltron to Karen
We need a new MBB arena
Tear that shit down
Halton has needed atleast 6-8 corporate suites and club seats since it opened.
Do not see us adding suites to Halton.
Go see a game at WInthrop with their burgundy arena. The dark color sucks all of the light out of the building. Dark Green is not the answer.
Yeah, why would we do what 75% of D1 schools do?
Our soccer teams deserve some type of training grounds, like Sporting has in Portugal, in addition to a SSS. Perhaps there is an opportunity for sharing a world class training ground with the Charlotte MLS team?
Although I wish we had some suites in Halton, I donāt think itās a viable option (save the suite money for JRS). However, if Hill & Co decide to get rid of the track, I could definitely see some sort of premium seating additions similar to the Royal Box seats at Spectrum Center. A few rows of tiered, premium seating, could be a great addition. Now, if they want to spend some bucks, they could completely redo the upper (retractable stands) and create suites, premium seating, etc, making the entire upper levels permanent. You could even go as far creating new concourses underneath the new uppers, connecting to the main concourse. Honestly, I canāt wait to see Hillās vision.
This should not even be up for debate. A D1 bball program should (and can) be able to support/sell a handful of corporate suites, particularly in this thriving market. This is not near as tough as some want to make it out to be.
Very true and I agree. However, how many D1 schools have added luxury suites after the fact? I think the issue is not that we couldnāt support a handful of suites, but rather itād be extremely expensive to implement as part of a renovation/upgrade to an already existing arena. Iād love to add some suites/premium seating, but understand if the reason not to is cost. JRS is different imo bc we are building from scratch and the logistics of adding suites is not nearly as complicated.
Iām in the minority I know but retaining the waking area would be nice. Maybe replace with hardwood. With kids that wal area allows you to watch the game while taking the kid for a walk.
My wish list for Halton is pretty different from many here.
Want:
- Redo concessions
- Bigger, higher resolution stat boards
- Use the snazzy light system we already own for introductions
- Ribbon boards that tie into cheers and help drive enthusiasm
- 2nd floor Hall of Fame/Trophies/Display venue (right above food court). Staffed and open before games.
- A cup holder for my $8 beer
Donāt care:
- Permanent Niner store
- Luxury suites
- Getting rid of the track
Things I want that are not facilities:
- Better intro videos
- Short, well produced videos of other sports, designed to cross-sell athletics and timed to fit into official timeouts. Not event specific, but hype videos on volleyball, football, etc.
The ultimate goal of the plan will tell alot in the details.
If the plan is to upgrade everything to our current Conference affiliationā¦I doubt there would be a need for luxury suites in Halton. Not many Corporate entities are willing to throw away money on luxury suites they will NEVER use. Entertaining clients with Charlotte vs North Texas or MTSU or FIU is not return on investment. And a JRS expansion to 30K is probably reasonable on a lot of fronts as well for a CUSA level school.
Butā¦if this plan comes out with luxury suites added to JRS and a capacity closer to 40K and there are luxury suites added to Haltonā¦it means a message is being sent and we are preparing for a future in a different Conference environment.
I still say a conf announcement is coming out with the plan. Just a GUT feeling.
I doubt it but you can see the fruits of the work Mike Hill is doing behinds the scenes.
Look at the connection heās building with the cityā¦incorporating the crown (which I hate for a logo but love for the reason) and trying to get the city to embrace us as Charlotteās only D1 school .
Look at the Observerā¦tons of articles (positive articles no less) now coming out after years of literally nothing.
Mike Hill is selling how our partnership with the city can lead to a Conference affiliation that can be a huge $$$$$ Boon to the city in more ways than one.
If we can do our part and move forward as an athletic dept (facilities/winning/etc) and the City embrace us and be a partner/promoter in the process. We become even MORE attractive and have more resources to offer to a future Conference upgrade.
Itās coming.
MH has already stated this will be a 10 YEAR PLAN. If we canāt fund a few suites over the next 10 years then we should just hang it up.
I think we will be blown away by the anticipated changes/additions to the athletic facilities. I believe this plan will be thought of as impossible by many on this board. Many on this board will not think that we can get the funding to pay for this plan.
That said, remember that this city is full of big money just looking for a place to put it. There will be a lot of new donors to this program over the next 5 years. We are definitely not looking to have current CUSA facilities. There is a much broader vision in the likes of Charlotte being the new flagship University in North Carolina.
I feel like there could be a chance of this, not a big one but it 100% would explain holding back on the release of it. Could be looking to release the new brand, master plan, and conference affiliation at one time. That would make Hill the biggest genius of all time and he would be hired away immediately.
@TRLeader I think the plan no matter what will show what weāre aiming for. Hill told us at one of the events that we would be blown away but what they had together so far. I think it will be beyond what any of us are expecting and will push the Niners into another league.
Iāll take it. Wishing on a . If the aac takes us it will be a miracle and appy heads will explode more than they did when cusa took us in. Gonna love that.
