Charlotte 49ers Athletic Facilities Master Plan discussion

i don’t see where we see anything that says it’s gone wrong. They have been fund raising for 12-18 months for a 200 million plus plan. Exponential was 5 years for a similar amount and 2 years in private.

Mike came in said 40 mil in capital campaign isn’t enough and immediately raised another 9.
They redid branding and managed to get school to move to using just Charlotte.
Embarked on a campaign to improve facilities that was interrupted by Covid.
Said we needed a better conference home and proceeded to get us in the AAC with no major sport winning.

The only failure from Mike has been Ron and the extensions. Will I think we are still waiting to see.

I have zero reason to doubt success here and since we made it to the AAC and expansion and facilities would have been part of the pitch I am comfortable with waiting. It’s far more important to me that we get it right and get it done than of I get to see something before they are ready and possibly put success in doubt. Me seeing it last fall or today has zero impact on it.

Sorry, I think we’re talking about different things. I was referring to the dumpster fire of a hoops program and below par football….

Why can’t fans just want to see it? This is a message board. Perfect place to B about what’s taking so long.

Trust the process.

Ah. That’s a whole different can of worms.

It’s fine to want to see it. We all want to see it.

This seems to be the dumping ground for other programs master plans as well so I figured I would add this here. That first tweet is very interesting coming from a program we will be competing against in order to get a big 12 slot

After reading this article it doesn’t sound like the Boise Master Plan is fully funded. Don’t they know the most embarrassing thing you could ever do is release a Master Plan before it is almost fully funded?

Boise started an assessment of their facilities in August 2021. What were they thinking during the middle of a pandemic?! Doesn’t their process seem a little rushed? Don’t you need at least 3 to 4 years of “tweaking” the plan before it is released?

I also read about releasing the plan to generate excitement within their fanbase. They are encouraging their fans to donate more and buy more season tickets. Don’t they know the only way to raise money is to hit up old rich people in secret?

Exactly…they obviously dont “know how these things are done” or so ive been told.

Look on the bright side! We’ll make a big splash by announcing our 2020’s Athletics Master Plan while everyone else is has moved on to 2030 plans.

BRILLIANT!

Couldn’t figure out what you were talking about until I turned the sound on. Hopefully that means something will be announced soon.

Fwiw I’ve heard they are on the last push with big donors and we should hear something soon, within weeks. If the numbers i have heard are correct we are in good shape.

No idea who’s voice that is and we’ve had “big expansion plans” since 2010.

If you click on the Tweeter’s profile:

I’ll grant the rest of what you said, but they’re apparently selling it hard to recruits.

Oh, no doubt. Pretty sure they have been selling that to recruits since 2010 too.

Not saying it won’t happen or won’t happen soon, but a lot of things are said to recruits.

I think our fans could use some recruiting these days. I understand kind of the what and why on how it’s being handled, but I think the fans at this point could use more to be a fan of.

Maybe it’s just me personally, but what we are rolling with in MBB at the moment and how we played in football (minus the duke game)… I don’t feel fanatical about our immediate future. I’m still hopeful In football I guess.
