What would you do/give/sacrifice for a Charlotte 49ers NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship?
What impact would a National Championship have for Charlotte academics/athletics in the future? football?
Thoughts?

My left nut.
Hootie’s right nut.
I’d sacrifice Football for a Men’s Basketball National Championship.
(That should get this thread jumpstarted…)

I’d sacrifices mens basketball for a BCS Championship, it worked for Miami!
Heck, I’d sacrifice Eason to the football gods on the rim of a volcano.
I'd sacrifice Football for a Men's Basketball National Championship.
So would I.
I'd sacrifice Football for a Men's Basketball National Championship. That's what Duke done. And they cheated too do it to.

Whoa now… don’t get crazy.
Beer
that’s a bit extreme
Ignoring the obvious, that a mens basketball championship would help get football if we weren’t already at it, let’s assume its 2002 all over again.
Only a Crackhead could compare winning a national title in the #2, I repeat, #2 sport; to being able to compete for a title in the #1, I repeat, #1 sport in the nation.
Too many of you have grown up on the ACC Koolaid, being reinforced by the till recently delousional state of reality in Charlotte’s Administration!
When the Ah-She-She can get a BILLION dollar TV deal for their basketball you may, MAY then have a point to make.
But until Hell freezes over I hope you basketball delousionalists will pull your heads out your annuses and come back to reality:
FCS Football < a Men’s Basketball Title < FBS Football
Simple math of college athletics.

No one has to sacrifice anything…
It will happen this year.:49ers:
I'd sacrifices mens basketball for a BCS ChampionshipHow many BCS teams don't play basketball?
How many BCS teams don’t play basketball?
That would be 0!
However, the University of Miami (FL) didn’t have mens’ basketball for a good stretch of the 1980’s when they won football titles.
What do I win?
Excluding Marquette, when was the last time a college/university without FBS level football won the NCAA Mens’ Basketball title?
Or for that matter, when was the last time a NON-BCS school won it, other than Marquette?

I will not argue the fact that College Football has richer television contracts but most of that is due to the high profile BCS schools.
Your argument may make sense if the question was if you could only have one sport or the other. IF you could choose to have either football or basketball, you would have to weigh attendance, TV contracts, etc. Some may still choose basketball but others may not due to the opinions you stated.
Also…the same would hold true if the question was to choose between an NCAA Basketball Championship and an FBS NCAA Football National Championship. Which would carry more weight and prestige? Again, your arguments may be relevant in that discussion as well.
But…the question was what would you be willing to give up if it meant an NCAA Basketball Championship. Apparently, the argument is that just having a football program (that is not competitive or respected) may not outweigh being recognized as having the best NCAA Div 1 Basketball team in the nation. I can see and understand that argument as well.
Just having football may not outweigh being the nation’s best basketball team in many eyes.

I would argue having a permanent institution, whether competitive or not, outweighs being “the nation’s best basketball team”, which would be a one time event. Both are nice though!

Villanova, I would guess.
Excluding Marquette, when was the last time a college/university without FBS level football won the NCAA Mens' Basketball title?UCONN, VILLANOVA, GEORGETOWN have all won the title since Marquette. UCONN won it before they had FBS football.Or for that matter, when was the last time a NON-BCS school won it, other than Marquette?
Other non FBS teams that were ranked Number ONE include DePaul and St Joe, among others. Memphis and Cincinnati could almost be put in that category too. Who has the most prestige? VILLANOVA or WESTERN CAROLINA?
Villanova, I would guess.
That is correct. 1985
UConn is THE state school in Connecticut and recieves unlimited funding. They were in reality a BCS level school BEFORE bringing their football up to level. We are not now nor will we ever be in a position like UConn was in WITHOUT FBS football.
That is correct. 1985Like I said24 years ago and long before the foundation of the BCS.
