The money was donated for a specific purpose. You got a problem with that, talk to Halton and Wagner.
Trust me, I’d like nothing better than to donate enough (specifically) to upgrade baseball.
If someone donates money for a specific purpose, do you want the AD to turn it down or try to convince the donors that their purpose is wrong?
I heard years ago that baseball players raised money to upgrade the old baseball field. Supposedly the AD redirected that money to something else. This was 5 or 6 years before the new baseball facility. Do we have a double standard?
I heard we never had football when Bonnie was alive because her nephew got injured playing that sport. Never heard about that baseball deal.
Never will undertand the continuing libel/slander of Dr. Cone about football. But then urban legends are what they are!
Lost Game 1 of the DH 6-2. Offensive struggles continue. Have scored 8 runs in 2 of the last 18 innings, zero in the other 16. At least no errors in the game.

Im pretty sure he was joking.
I was. The fact that it was an urban rumor was understood. Thus the comparison to the baseball story.
I have specific request with family that they sneak over to the nature trail and scatter my ashes near Bonnie’s grave when I depart so…
We are either the unluckiest team in the conference, the worst hitting team in the conference or a combination of both. We either hit weak ground balls or lazy fly balls. Everyone we face scores with two outs and people in scoring position or 1 out and people in scoring position. I believe we only have 1 two out hit with someone in scoring position all year. I still believe in this team but damn we have to start playing better baseball. Every facet of this team has to get better. Relief pitching comes in when the game is close , ahead or tied and they proceed to give up runs, runner in scoring position we don’t get them in. We have to close the flood gates before we get to deep in the water and drown this season.
This is definitely not going well. We’re just not getting it done right now and we’re unlucky on top of that. We all knew this season was going to be a challenge, but I don’t think we saw it going quite like this.
we knew the conference season would be tougher but our troubles started in the non conference. now they have carried into the conference season (0-6). lose all 3 to a bad MTSU team. they were 5-11 48 hours ago I think…this is getting old real fast.
Our starting pitching has been the only part of our game that has been consistent this year. Everything else has been inconsistent and terrible at times.
I knew this season would be rough but not this bad.
For immediate need - put in Halton Arena upper level areas? This has been done at other colleges in NC such as Rockingham CC. No cost for building - only for protective flooring, netting, etc. Would need to share area - hopefully that would be acceptable if schedules coordinated?
Could also build fairly inexpensively behind the current Wells Fargo Fieldhouse (there’s about a 3,000 square feet area) that could be used by both baseball and softball for time-being. The addition would be in the back of the building (not visible - possibly avoid expensive brick etc.)? Two sides of the building are already built - could connect inside to existing locker rooms and restrooms. Could put a couple garage doors at back and open up when nice.
The sharing of facilities could help everyone - especially on a day like today!

Welcome to the board, rook.
Rice reminded FIU whose conference this is by going down to Florida and sweeping them this weekend with a combined score of 24-11. Rice isn’t on our schedule this season. I’m ok with that.
One thing is for certain, when we do a facility, it’s not going to be temporary or half-assed. I think the best idea would be a mixed use indoor facility as SF mentioned in another thread.

Good suggestions. Years ago I went to NC State camp and they had cages under Reynolds Coliseum. Nothing special, but very functional. They maybe could have put some area in Belk Gym but I doubt intramurals will allow it.
A metal shed building would run you about 200-300k. School isn’t going to build anything without it fitting into the aesthetic of campus so you’d have to tack on probably double.
Personally, I think they should build an indoor complex with batting and pitching cages, practice range for golf, and an indoor track and field.
The shared facility at YSU looks great!
In the short term another option for Charlotte could be to put some pitching/cages in one of the parking decks? They’re covered (would need to check ceiling heights), have lights, and shouldn’t be any schedule issues. Could get this done quickly at minimal cost. Maybe take the old netting down from the original batting cages near the field (by the creek) and re-install if can afford to relocate?
It’d be a start!
