I could call a better game and I’m totally not qualified. Where did we get this guy? Healey is a very good coach but Carney is not the man for this job.
There are 0 excuses for Carney. That was the dumbest 2-point call I have ever seen. Lateral pass to a linemen?

Seems like he thinks he has to trick the opponent all the time. Most teams don’t get fooled with the silly plays. They just play man up and snuff it out. I have never seen so many stupid offensive plays called.

Down by 20 with 9 min to go on our own 8 and we run, run, pass, run, then fumble all to gain about 30 yds. Oh, and using no TO’s and running the play clock down to zero with the clock still running. I guess I just don’t understand football. If this is our game play, then just kneel and give the ball back to them. Duke is a better team than us, but not this DAMN good.

Duke is seriously running less clock On snaps than us. Did we even try a hurry up? I don’t get it.

If the OC calls the remainder of plays in the same nonsensical manner as the times before, we will start heaving Hail Mary’s with a hurry up offense because being down by 27 with 4 min to go, in the 4th quarter, is that specific time in a game that requires us to get aggressive to still have a chance for a W.
Because our offensive coordinator doesn’t know what to call in certain situations. I guess he has to go to his special plays sheet and signal it down. He’s the worst OC we have ever had and that is saying a lot. Sad!

Healy has been great for culture and recruiting, which was sorely needed, but we do not look like a well coached team. Losing Atkins has caused this team to regress significantly.

I typically agree with you, but it isn’t from shear talent. I agree there is a gap in talent, how our play calling didn’t help the situation. I would say that there is just as much talent gap on the coaching staff as there is regarding the players when compared to Duke. We were extremely out coached. They are a better team than us, regarding players, but not a difference of the score.
Yeah there’s a definite talent gap but we look poorly coached at times & some of the play calls make us look like idiots. That’s because of a talent gap at the offensive coordinator position.

I agree. It’s time for us to get our s**t in gear. I don’t expect perfection but the coaching needs to step up too. Carney officially needs to go.
