2-6 in cusa. Fire poggi.
CMS has I think 16 public schools and each school dresses out approximately 50 players. This does not include the private schools. There are 800-900 or more HS players in Meck alone. Some one counted 32 players on CLTâs roster from the area.
I would gues these 32 players would also include schools from outlying counties. If we also count schools in outlying counties, there are many more than 800-900 local players. CLT has 32 of these players. That is a low percentage of the total players.
I donât think we are recruiting many 4 star players. We recruit mostly 2 and 3 star players. Also, recruiting in the CLT area are SEC, Big, and ACC. South Carolina, Clemson, UNC, State, Wake, VATech. App, and others recruit heavily in the CLT area. Clemson, UNC and a few others in ACC may not have to work as hard as CLT to build relationships. They can come in grab a 4 star athlete without working as hard as APP or CLT.
And there are different levels of 3 star and 2 star players. Just bc we have 32 players on our roster, this does not mean that these 32 players are among the best 50 percent or 40 percent or 30 percent recruited in the CLT area.
If you donât want to believe what I am stating , you tell me why Healy did not recruit well. Lambert may have had the difficulty of recruiting to a new program. But he overcame that obstacle l, and we competed with Lambertâs recruits. But Healy could not maintain the consistency of recruiting that Lambert created.
It is amazing how some on this forum attack their own bc of a differing opinion. We are all on the same team. We can have different opinions. I would advise that we always respect others opininions on this forum. You never know who you are ridiculing on a forum. Be mature and respectful.
Brads recruiting was awful. There wasnât much for Will to build on with recruiting. He did get lucky getting some guys and clearly was better at developing them.
The reality is we have had two coaches and we have yet to have a staff that has knocked it out with recruiting. Maybe Biff will be that guy. I really hope he is.
To start Niner1979, if you got the impression or felt I was being disrespectful to you, I do apologize, that was certainly not my intent. If 1979 is the year you started or graduated from CLT, I would consider you and a couple of others on this board as part of the OG and we have been through a lot of crappy sports. To answer one of your comments, yes I did count surrounding counties and school districts, ie Union county, Weddington, Indian Trail, Cabarras, etc⌠I would consider them local.
Rest if my opinion:
As it relates to recruiting, we just donât have the time and resources to try to compete with the P5 schools, with some exceptions, on a lot of 4*'s. At the end of the day, we have to field a team/fill a class and because we donât have a tradition and history yet, we have to spend a lot of time keeping those 3*'s. Also, I donât like absolute statements like canât recruit locally, HS coaches donât like us, etcâŚ
Someone on this board said re HS recruiting, âitâs a two way streetâ and I canât agree more. Recruiting has completely changed with the advent of social media etc⌠everyone has a highlight video on youtube. I am not a HS coach but I would have to think the old days of Recruiters coming to HS Coaches and kissing their butts for suggestions and nudges on their kids are a thing of the past, unless their kids are high 4-5*'s. Recruiters have already seen them on film and have made a recruiting ROI decision on them, time and money. HS coaches have to be a proactive advocate for their kids with colleges. Sending links, emails etc⌠to recruiters if there is a school one of their kids wants to go to or the coach thinks would be a good fit.
I hope my hope of Biff sitting in a living room with parents, with his no BS attitude assuring them their Kid will go to class, graduate and will leave CLT as a man, will make a huge difference. THAT is one area that social media canât change, the importance of MOM/DAD in the decision process.
Anyone know the time of the press conference tomorrow?
10:00, I think
clt says tomorrow will be fun, biffâs press conference then usa soccer
Thank You!
Press conference will be on espn+, 1030 am
Yes I did graduate in 1979. And I know very well how crappy our teams have been. Your apology is accepted. No need to worry bc I am not that easily offended. I am a niner for life, but it is difficult to stay engaged when we are so bad year after year. But we donât know who is on this forum. There could be people living in the area, not related to the university, that are wanting to become invested in our up and coming sports programs. We donât want to offend any of these people on this forum. I apologize if I made too big of a deal out of this with my comments. It is not that important anyway. We have a new coach coming and hopefully he will be able to recruit.
At least you saw one really good year of basketball, '77 but we got ripped off.
That '76 season wasnât too bad either
We got 2 really good years. Not to rub it in but road trips to NYC, Indiana, Kentucky, and Atlanta for NIT and NCAA Tourney games is some of the best memories of college. Really sad and disappointing that kids from later years havenât been able to experience the same.
clt says we are close!
Could someone please post a link later for a replay of the presser? Will not be able to watch live.
I expect the link I posted earlier will still work for playback.
ESPN 730 gonna carry it too:
With it being on ESPN+ it should be available on demand any time
Someone tell Poggi that Florida has withdrawn their scholarship offer to 4 star Quarterback Marcus Stokes.
