They did it to Pantherman or whatever his nickname was. It was the guy that dressed up in shoulder pads and blue hair and such. He was a fixture at games until he died.
They told him he won a truck during an tv timeout “contest” and then gave him a hotwheels ford f150. He cried to the media that he was humiliated and they bought him a real truck.
I can’t believe someone thinks that was a good idea in the first place
Nice to know there’s a Hornet who gives and doesn’t take it back:
How does this make sense???
I’m at a loss here.
Only seems to makes sense for PHX.
Yeah man. I have to find some expert analysis on this cause I’m flabbergasted.
The only thing I can think of is did they clear salary in prep for some big Lamelo trade or something?
Something else is afoot here.
From the Shams piece:
I get that. But Richard’s is exactly the kind of player you want INSTEAD of second round picks. A serviceable backup big who is on a cheap deal.
Second round players like that don’t just drop from the sky.
I’ll have to dig deep into this.
Williams seemed to like the trade tonight in Utah. That stat line is impressive and he had 9 dunks for the game and 7 OR in the 4Q alone.
This was my only thought too. I feel like this is the first step and something else is about to happen. Hopefully, something big because we need help.
Trade Lamelo for what? He’s the current leading All-Star vote getter in the east backcourt. When’s the last time a Hornet started an All Star game. They’re not trading him unless it’s for 5 first round picks, which they won’t get.
Maybe GS state might consider it for Curry. IF GS doesn’t make the playoffs, maybe they decide it’s time to rebuild, get Lamelo for 4 years instead of Curry for 2. But even that I don’t think is likely.
Any comparable young franchise player (SGA, AE, Paolo, Luka, Tatum, Wemby) I don’t see those teams wanting to trade those players.
Maybe they could get an aging “star” or 2nd tier player AND a first round pick (similar to with Curry). Maybe a Levine, Booker, Herro, Ingram, Markanen. But I’m not sure how many of those the Hornets would trade for. I would definitely do a Booker and first round.
But most likely, all of the aquired 2nd round picks are for getting a non-lottery first round pick.
How about just keep the All-star starter and put a better team around him. The Hornets almost lost last night because they got 14 points from players other than Melo, Miller, Mark, and Miles. Melo will be fine with a little help.
