CBS Sports: AAC expert picks 2021-22: Projected order of finish, bold predictions, most overrated and underrated teams.
A peek at our future conference mates for their upcoming season. Some very talented players and strong teams in the league, but not so great at shooting from outside.
I think this season will be fun as I will now have 2 leagues to follow during the season.
Panthers stadium should be for event type of games, like if we hosted a Tennessee, Florida etc. Events that the only way we could get would be to play in a NFL stadium. If we’re using BoA for conference games it would feel like we’ve failed.
Now “maybe” every third year as a “neutral site” game with ECU, maybe I could get on board with that. That special first game of the year with Duke would not have had the same emotion if it had been played downtown.
I’m not anti-BOA it just needs to be severely restricted. I do like though that the Panthers are willing to do whatever it takes to helps us.
To me the constant delaying can only indicate that the initial idea that $200 million would be enough has finally been dissolved. That number was always too low and too optimistic. Prices have soared since then.
You’re looking at a $500 million project with all they want to do.
Two new decks to get to 45k-ish.
IPF
Dedicated Basketball Center
New Soccer Stadium
Lacrosse
I see $300 M right there.
I just don’t see how they can possibly come in at $200 M and get the rest of what they want and those items.
If that weird rule that only applies to us is true then maybe they low-balled it to $200 M so that they can get started and hope the additional amount needed to finish kind of snowballs in behind it.
I don’t think that will be the case. I think some of the smaller projects will be addressed first. For example I know there is something already in the works for softball facility expansion which is an immediate need.
Personally, I don’t see us playing home games at BofA Stadium.
I think it was a great idea to reach out to the Panthers, and then showing the AAC that we have access to their stadium as an option. It certainly didn’t hurt us and likely helped us get into the conference.
With temp bleachers for the App game we had 20k. I think we could add more temp if needed, but the max would be 25k I think. That should be enough for all of our conference games except for ECU. ECU and App played at BofA this season and drew 36k for reference.
This is all until our stadium expansion can begin and I believe the construction should be able to be completed in phases between seasons. It was designed that way at least. Just have to raise the $$.
And if anyone here cares, I WILL attend any games that the 49ers play at Bank of America Stadium if it happens. Might even be able to convince more folks to come with me.
Do we have any idea when the plan might be released?
I don’t mean a specific date but for those that may have insider information, does it seem like it’ll be within the next 6 months or so or does it seem like it’ll be a lot longer?
Gents. Don’t rule out memorial stadium as a possible temp site for our games if we need a temporary home. It’s been refurbished for the charlotte independence. I haven’t been there yet but it looks good from the road. Not sure what capacity is though……. 10,500. Not big enough for us really. Not sure if it would be better to play there and pack it or play in BOA and have it be over half empty.
If ODU can rebuild basically an entire stadium in one off season, we can add decks in one or one deck one off season and the other deck the other off season. I wouldn’t rule Memorial out, but I also would think that’s a last resort kind of thing.
Doing it off season would be fantastic. I would support a two (or three if needed!) year off season expansion. Keeping games at home while still making progress is fine by me.
