Not sure anything has been confirmed. Could we play a combination of BOA and Jerry Richardson stadium? That seems to be the concern. I’m certain we would not abandon our own campus stadium completely. Regardless, I have full confidence in our administration.
I’d rather put up temporary bleachers at the track than to play at BofA.
Playing at BoA with less than 50k Niner fans showing up would be a program draining vampire move. If you’re holding off on actual expansion put up the temp bleachers and get us to 20k first.
When you see it on paper (or a screen nowadays I guess) that’s a really strong baseball conference.
clt says one game at bofa. The light rail makes the difference.
Guys calm down. We are not going to play any games in BOA unless we absolutely have to. BOA was simply a piece of the puzzle to remove stadium as a concern for the AAC. Expansion is still going to happen and its going to happen as soon as it can.
Its also cool to have a history with all of the programs too. The last time we played some of these teams, we were in pretty much a high school stadium.
So, one week after joining the AAC, we have people declaring their intention to never attend games that aren’t even scheduled.
If this program is ever going to grow up, a few of you are going to need to pull your heads out of your asses. I realize that’s a big ask, but nevertheless, here we are.
Games at BoA where you can’t guarantee 50k 49ers fans or $10M would be program draining. USF, and Temple look like they play in tombs. Pitt games look like shit on TV and they are making P5 money. Add temp seats to the Rich if we need them, but playing any non-bowl game at BoA is just plain stupid. We don’t have the fans at the moment to make it worth while.
People (especially recruits) need to see this:
Not this:
I feel the same way about playing basketball at the Spectrum.
I can understand playing a tournament at Spectrum but not single games.
You’re just giving the P5 that demanded to play there an excuse to show how little support you have in your own community.
If people are that scared of an empty boa stadium, I can’t figure out why they see a need to expand at all. Our guys would love playing in that stadium, especially if it was because we were building a new, badass stadium
As long as we return to campus full time I care not where we play when construction is going on.
As far as special events at BOA, I find that very dubious. I can’t think of a game other than a Bowl that would make me want to play at BOA.
Let’s say Alabama decided to play us on the road and we play at BOA because…… coolness? All that will result is a sea of their wal mart fans and it being like a home game for them.
Unless it’s a way to make extra money by getting a cut of the loot what’s the point?
We built our stadium on campus for all our games because all our games are special events. 6 times a year is all we get. I want those games on campus.
Bowl games of course are exempt. Would love to play a bowl game in charlotte in BOA a neutral field lol.
Thought experiment.
Bowl Game
At BOA
Against …… let’s say Auburn
How many could we (niners) put in the seats?
Playing on campus is such a better experience than playing Uptown. I still get jazzed every time I am walking up the hill to go to Richardson stadium for a game. We need a loud and hostile environment for our opponents. BofA is too big and will produce a dead environment.
Please just let some of them jump off the ship…
If we’re lucky, they can’t swim.
I think some of you mis interpreted Hills remark. I think he was saying if we had a need for 50,000+ seats we confirmed BOA could be used…not that we would have to use it because of construction issues or because of not expanding.
Tell Mr Hill thank you for explaining that to you
Respectfully, that’s not what he said.
