Also, $250 was just an acknowledgement of a thing that was done behind closed doors. The fact is I have given poorly or not at all for years because the administration lost me with their apathy and lack of vision. I felt… guilty? a couple times and tried to make up for it by buying group tickets and the like. But they’ve lost 15 or so of my prime earning years by not caring about the product and not caring to include me in their vision. That’s their choice, but it just defers thousands into my investment accounts instead of their coffers. And continuing to keep people like me on the outside of the cool kids club certainly won’t win my money anytime soon. Truth is, I am not going to beg. But nor should I have to.
I get it, I am not writing a 7 figure check now or ever. But I could have been a green jacket years ago. They never bothered even trying and aren’t now. And we wonder why we don’t have the fandom and support we want to have.
You do realize Hill started talking about this on day one, right? Thats 2.5 years ago…Then, within 6 months he stated the plan would be released within 6 months, then 6 more months…he also talked about having extended the $40m AD goal after we reached it… to 49m …since then, not a peep…the least he could do is update a time table even without $$$ details.
I think we’re missing the elephant in the room. Like it or not; the emergence of the COVID menace likely changed the trajectory of the master plan. This time last year the athletic department was contemplating layoffs, correct? Couple that with industry wide realignment precipitated by the move of Oklahoma and Texas and, well it’s not hard to see that Hill’s number one focus may have been elsewhere within the last 12 months.
Of course Covid affected everything…but they literally have made no comment on the fund raising campaign AT ALL for the last 1.5 years after speaking about it incessantly the year prior. Its not too much to expect some update by now, something, anything.
I think we are seeing why Judy kept her mouth shut. Under her we wouldn’t have known it was underway. This AD was being transparent that there would be a new master facilities plan. Then time was taken to hire a firm and then time for the firm to do their study. That was a year right there as soon as the plan was back and tweaked based on what we wanted and could do and we started fund raising Covid hit and the chancellor told us to stop fund raising and table the plan. That was rescinded this past spring. So they have been trying to land the large donors for roughly 6 months. And now are likely adjusting needs a bit more based on AAC input and requests.
As for the 49 mil I’ve mentioned this before but that is not 49 mil that wehave in hand. Some of that won’t come in for 30 years I am so sure some of that was tapped into for Covid testing and make up lack of revenue like not getting the million from going to Tenn last fall. It will likely come in most hand as we need cash in the bank to pay bond interest on anything we do start to build paid for with bonds.
No one is moving goal posts like you are saying that I see. We will know something soon, and since you have built your nest egg up, hope you can donate to the cause annually.
So, let’s judge Judy this… UVilleNiner would like an update on the master plan and fundraising timeline right? Am I misunderstanding that? Did mike hill give UVilleNiner a reason to believe it would be released already? If so and it hasn’t, it’s good business practice to update the timeline. It’s bizness. I hate missed deadlines on projects with no updates.
If mike hill hasn’t stated when it would be released then UVilleNiner just needs to be patient and have a niner lager.
Oh that sure as hell isn’t happening. I have other plans for that money now. That ship sailed when they didn’t engage me. It is a question of how much more of it they wanna miss out on. My whole point there is how the program is losing entire generations of potential giving and engagement by ignoring folks like me and by fielding crap teams that don’t compete.
I really detest the idea that no one but big money donors matters. We gave Judy endless shit for that same attitude. I intend to hold Mike to the same standard. You don’t build a fanbase by only catering to a dozen or two dozen people.
In building a fan base…you are right. When funding a $200 Million Master Plan it’s a different story.
I put it in the other thread…but if every 49er club member gave an EXTRA $1000 towards the Master Plan over and above our normal giving levels (which would be a pipe dream)…that would raise $4 MIllion (4000 members x $1000). That’s 2% of the Master Plan. 2%. Where’s the 98% gonna come from??
Shmoozing the 98% to get the Master Plan completed will allow Mike to schmooze the rest of us into bigger numbers and bigger donations to grow the program. But ya gotta get the Master Plan funded and WE (49er Club members) ain’t doin it with 2%.
Meanwhile at a former D2 school tonight they had 16k people. Half our fanbase buys tickets and then stays home. That’s some weak sauce right there. Then we count tickets scanned in a world of people counting tickets sold.
Well if it sure as hell isn’t happening, then don’t guess there is a chance of you donating for more, so no point in the missing out part lol. Most in the AD engage folks no matter the level of giving. Most, not all. You guys just seem riled up tonight for no reason. You need a drink or 12 my dude.
Would it not help with recruiting to show any plans of expanding the stadium, or any new facilities? I would think Healey would want the plan out as soon as possible.
