It will be interesting to see what Fearne can do, I’ll at least watch to see how the current players do in a different system (we’ll see how much is changed versus not if the assistants stay mostly the same).
I do think the players remaining are capable enough to not be the worst team in the league if things go well, but will be surprised if they have a lot more success. Losing Williams is less of a blow than losing Khalifa. Williams ran really hot and cold (maybe due to the coach…), but Khalifa was consistently our best player on the court. Will be interesting to see how the players do without him creating on offense. Add in possible problems with transitions to a new coach / style, and I’m expecting a tough season. Hopefully Fearne proves me wrong.
In the past, I’d have worried more about a lost recruiting season due to an interim year, but with the portal now, it really isn’t as hard to rebuild a team. They still have to learn to play together, but you can find experienced players and players that got recruited over to come in and have quicker success. It’s less damaging than it used to be I think. The bigger issue will be getting someone good to want to dig us out of our current hole. Nobody knows this program anymore (current recruits were not even born the last time this program made the tournament).

I personally think the style of play has everything to do with whether we miss Aly or Brice more. If the style stays the same, it is Aly, especially at the slow pace of play. If we open it up more and play with a better pace, it doesn’t fit Aly as well and I think Brice would have flourished.

If Bras is healthy I think he’ll be more that an efficient replacement for Brice.
Wish we could hear some news on what’s happening with the open scholarship & open position on the coaching staff. Haven’t really seen us mentioned with any transfers since Jackson left.

Let me be on record to say Aly will not be missed. He was very Jokic-light with his shooting and passing skills, but an extremely below average rebounder…at a detriment to the team especially playing the center spot.
Brice has NBA talent/measurables IMO on the other hand.
