Gotta say Iām excited. It feels like we grew up overnight.
This is an impressive hire! Wow! Canāt wait to see what we look like come spring.
This.
Also, canāt wait to see what the transfer portal is going to look like. Very excited by everything Poggi has done to date! CHARLOTTE IS GOING BIG TIME!!!
Just look in the past, these positions were filled with experience from:
Austin Peay
Virginia State
Christopher Newport
Coastal Carolina
Ridge View High
Christ School
So are we keeping Pete Rossomando or notā¦ kind of confusingā¦ guess it will come out in time.
Was kind of hoping for a Defensive Co that had actually been that at the FBS level before, hopefully he was the right hand man on the D at Michigan, we all know thatās the side of the ball that needs the most help.
He was visiting high schools on our behalf last week. I donāt know why heād do that if he wasnāt on staff, but there is a lot about college football recruiting that I donāt understand.
Biography
RYAN OSBORN enters his first season in Baltimore as a defensive assistant. In his role, Osborn works closely with the outside linebackers and defensive linemen. Prior to his arrival in Baltimore, Osborn served as a defensive analyst for Mike Macdonaldās 2021 Michigan unit, which produced the nationās eighth-ranked scoring defense (17.4 ppg), while finishing 20th in yards per game allowed (330.9) and 11th in red zone touchdown efficiency (45.7%). Working with the outside linebackers and defensive line at Michigan, Osborn helped guide DE Aidan Hutchinson, who earned 2021 first-team All-American honors and was a Heisman Trophy finalist after producing a career-high and single-season school-record 14 sacks, and OLB David Ojabo, who earned 2021 second-team All American honors after producing 11 sacks and 5 forced fumbles, setting a school record for most forced fumbles in a single season. Prior to his tenure in Ann Arbor, Osborn guided the D-line at Tennessee-Martin (2020) and served as a defensive graduate assistant at the University of Florida (2018-19) and Mississippi State (2016-17). Osborn earned his bachelorās degree from Bridgewater State University and his masterās degree from Mississippi State in 2017.
Osborn is a young coach, but he seems to be moving up the ranks fast. Osborn recently served as a defensive grad assistant for the Florida Gators and Mississippi State Bulldogs before taking a position coach job to handle DL for UT Martin. That stint only last for a year, though, and Osborn is already back to the Power Five as a defensive analyst. Per Matt Zenitz of AL.com, Osborn almost took a coaching position at Georgia, so itās clear he is someone who is highly sought after already.
Poggi flat out makes stuff happen. This could be the Hail Mary weād hoped for. Hold on for a fun ride Niners.
Charlotte is the school that is I think still officially University of North Carolina at Charlotte. When I was in high school in Charlotte in the late 70s I think it was primarily more of a ācommuterā school, but has grown rapidly in the last 20 years and is the second largest UNC system schoolā¦.NC State is the largest and Chapel Hill 3rd. The football program didnāt exist until about 10 years ago. I think they played in a national championship soccer game a decade or so ago (losing to UNC), but probably the biggest sports moment in school history was getting to the 1977 Final Four. They (go ahead and neg away) beat Johnny Orrs top ranked and defending runner up Michigan in the regional finals and were one insane basket away from making the finals where they would have faced UNC. That UNCC team was really good and starred Cedric Maxwell who was the MVP in the 1981 NBA finals. You can see why they decided to start going by just āCharlotteā a few years ago though.

One comment that is perhaps fair:
Interesting that they are splitting up Oline to different coaches
