Ouch…that was an @SS raping. Worst one I can remember in a few years.
Man, its been a horrible season. Horrible. But before people rush to call for Lutz’s head…can we put this in perspective? We just lost to the 14th best team in the country.
I’ll also add that our starting PG quit on his team days before the season started, our current PG is a walkon, our backup PG never played point in his life, and our leading scorer during the preseason is out for the season.
But in spite of that, yeah, its been a horrible season. This is ****ing painful.
Rough…

All deflection from the problem.
Its going to get worse before it gets better…
But, seriously…NEXT year is our YEAR. It always is! I believe!
Story of this season so far, turnovers. I thought we’ve played well in every game this season but tonight we was a disaster.
Negatives (let’s start with them since there were so many):
We are terrible against a zone. Bad. Pathetic. Jr. high girls teams could school us on how to play against a zone.
Transition D was pretty bad.
Phil hits a few shots…then never sees the ball. Mack grabs a board, converts, hits FT…and is sub’d out before play resumes. I thought we usually ride the hot hand?
Dewhurst…ugh. Poor Dew. He needs to be back at SF/PF where he belongs. He just looks lost this yr.
TOs…some of that on Dew, but plenty all around. 3ast/13TOs at the half. Ouch!
Positives:
We are athletic. I think they try hard, but I’m not sure that it’s all the time. If we used our athleticism and played better D, it would help our offense.
The freshman…Coleman looked promising.
Harris (and our offense) looks great when he tries to create, drive, etc. When we just pass the ball on the perimeter we look terrible. Maybe ASU wasn’t playing as hard of D when he was driving, but he needs to do that more.
First game I’ve seen this season…might be my last.

We also didn’t do anything to use our inside game against them - we did have them outsized.
We didn’t try to pick apart the defense AT ALL.
We still can’t defend the 3 ball, and when we can we leave the inside wide open.
NO ONE will real in our players who just jack up ridiculous shots over and over. The bench is there for a reason.
I actually felt like I was being tortured watching us play tonight. We don’t understand what fundamentals are and we haven’t played fundamental basketball all year. We can blame this on a lack of a 2nd point guard but when Harris is in we do the same things. This is a MAJOR coaching error. Bobby really really really needs to figure out how to coach a big man. Even the bloody commentators were talking about how we should be feeding the ball to Phil! How many shots did he miss? Seriously.
We could have beat this team tonight - they did not play like the number 14 team in the nation this evening. Heck - I would have even been happy if we lost by 10 but at least played fundamental basketball. But guys - we’ve looked like this ALL year.

I respect your loyality to Bobby. He’s an extremely likeable guy and we all want him to succeed. But some need to realize we’re not in 2004-2005 anymore. We’re looking at 4 years of no NCAA tournament and at some point it’s because of Bobby Lutz. Not because of players, Judy, conference move etc. At some point, the coach is responsible.
Another loss, you can blame it on the loss of Gerrity, pre-season injuries, whatever. We look terrible and the losses are getting worse.
At this point we have lost to both ASUs.
"The freshman…Coleman looked promising. "
He looked better. Problem is - He’s not a freshmen. Transfer Junior.
Coleman aint a freshman. He is a junior
Just came back from Ale House. This is the first time I left a game before it was over.
WE FCUKING SUCK.
There were barely any set play.
We just pass around perimeter and jack 3.
Arizona did not play like #14 in the nation and we still lost by what? 30 fcuking points?
FUNDAMENTAL BASKET****INGBALL
Jesus Fking crist, I am so pissed

My bad. Well…
…errr. At least he’s here next yr! :tumble:
I think the last time we were this thoroughly thrashed was when Louisville beat us 100-59 in 2002-03. We did virtually nothing right in this game. My dad and I were laughing by the end… what else can you do when the team looks so utterly incompetent?
I don’t know how Bobby Lutz feels right now, but I’m embarrassed for him. And embarrassed to admit I’m a Niner fan. This game was over about 3 minutes after the opening tip. Arizona State could have played the entire game with their B-team and won by double digits tonight. Hell, there are some high school teams out there that would have given us a run for our money tonight. Lutz is no stranger to laying an egg on national TV though… that is becoming second nature.
Our offense is a complete joke… pass back and forth around the perimeter for 20 seconds, then force up a bad 3 or turn the ball over. We have no one that can penetrate or make an entry pass. Pretty easy to defend against that kind of “offense.” Our best offensive play tonight was to jack up a shot and hope we could get an offensive rebound.
All it takes to beat our defense is a few crisp passes around the perimeter, and someone will have a wide open shot.
Dewhurst is definitely no PG. Lutz was dealt a tough hand with our PG issues, but our problems run much deeper than that.
LaMont Mack = Bench
I’d love to listen to Lutz’ postgame comments but my $10/month “all access” subscription isn’t working… again.
The real question is where does this losing streak stop? We’ll be lucky to win one game in this tournament, and there is a real chance we could be 1-8 or 2-7 by the time we play our next home game. This place will be knee deep in “fire Lutz” threads if that happens. How long until football season starts?

that was not the 14th. best team in the country. they are a borderline top 25 team. harden is not a first team all american. we just arent good. thats not a shot at asu its just that we lost to an overrated team. i still plan to go to all the games but it is getting harder and harder to watch this team. i didnt want to say it yet but im heading for the wait until next year thinking.
