Not to make anyone feel worse, but the dude that hit the 3 to win it was a senior who has never hit a 3 before.

As I said earlier, in that situation, you don’t even leave the waterboy open if they just subbed him in. You can’t give a team, or any of their players, a WIDE-OPEN 3 to beat you. I would have almost rather given up a dunk in that situation. Overtime should have been our worst case scenario.
Different year, same old story. We always lose an early game to a team we should beat... being a home game where we had a 7 point lead in the closing minutes makes this one even more painful. We didn't play well at all in the first half... better in the second, but we still aren't hitting on all cylinders. Our defense needs some work... we are giving up way too many open shots.
Surprisingly, we look solid from the FT line this year.
Phil Jones looked good. Nice to have a big man that can hit FTs.
The Harris turnover with under 2 to play hurt.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t THINK they scored on that possession, because I remember thinking we got away with one there.

Yes technically, but we got no free throws out of the possession and we ran no time off of the clock. It came back to bite us even though they did not score right after the turnover.

Yes, but think about it. They essentially ran time off the clock with their possession without scoring. We then got the ball back again (later) with the same score. I just don’t think that turnover was a factor at all. The missed FT by Harris at 14.5 seconds and the trapping D were the killers!Damn, I can’t believe Lutz had 'em trapping. I mean the ONLY thing you don’t want to give a team in those last 2 possessions is an open three and thats what you often get when trapping…damn, damn, damn…:weep:

Lots of assumptions that we’re both making, but I was looking at it as we could have been up 4 (assuming we make 2 free throws instead of the turnover) with much less time on the clock, and then got it back for more free throws after they missed (assuming that things finished the same as they did after the turnover possession). You can argue it either way, because at one point we were also up 4 with 23 seconds left. The turnover was not listed in the play-by-play recap, so I don’t remember exactly when it happened. I want to say it was around :40+ seconds. Ifs and buts…
Do you think Mack is feeling the pressure of being the guy everyone is looking to for scoring this year? Performance anxiety?

We picked a really bad year to field a team that can’t shoot.
Lloyd Bridges said that on Airplane right between “Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue” and “Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit amphetamines”.
Yeah what the Hell is this about?? Its ONE GAME! Good lord chill. I'd rather this happen early season and lets get back on track with App.
agreed. one game, many many more games to go. we will bounce back.
I am really wishing that Bowden was healthy after watching us struggle from behind the arc. Hopefully Mack will go on a tear pretty soon and all will be right with the world.:49ers:
