Charlotte vs. EZU (12/1)

Major brings in Croatian studs to hold down the end of the bench every spring, you guys have nothing to worry about going 0 fer in the fall.

As far as our class, we had everyone of our 4 guys commited by early September. You know as well as I do if they had held off they would have much better offers right now. That’s why you get them early or you probably don’t get them at all. We got White and Stith in July and early August and they still had nice offers.

Caleb White …6-6 SG offers Virginia Tech, Cincy, Richmond, UTEP, MVP of summer 5 star camp
Brandan Stith…6-7 SF offers Virginia, VCU, Charlotte, VA 3A Player of the year
Antonio Robinson…6-4 JUCO PG, 11ppg, 5.5rpg, 4.4 apg
Gregory Alexander…6-4 SG, offers UTEP, App State, William and Mary

Alexander is clearly the worst of our recruits and if he averages 7 to 12 points a game playing on the wing his senior year, I’ll say he probably sucks. You were never willing to admit that about Nickerson though when he averaged 11ppg, and still hold the belief to this day that he’s some blue chip stud. I’d certainly rather have our class locked up than your unknown one, especially with what you’ve signed the last 2 springs. Major would have liked to have had Stith as well.

I don’t know how Charlotte will EVER compete with Lebo and ECU. We clearly will never reach their levels of greatness.

Can’t wait til 12/1 so someone in this clusterf*** can have an honest reason to gloat for awhile. I think it will be us.

Denzel Ingram, late signee. Scores 16 points on 6-8 shooting. Color me the opposite of terrified. Oh how I wish we had Paris Roberts-Campbell and his 0-6 from outside!!!

Good thing Lebo “backed off” of TWill for that stud!

have you watched nickerson this season? he is blossoming into the player we thought he would be. also, he was a top 150 on rivals and for a while top 100 on espn. that is more than i could say about any of your guys. plus we have lester coming in. another guy who was a four star. where are all your four stars. wow, you have guy who averaged 11 ppg in juco. i love how your argument is to point out two of our recruits who never play. btw, virigina tech offers everybody. clayton had offers from schools like florida, indiana, fsu, ole miss, etc. we dont just settle for the first guys that we can get. we go after kids that can make an impact. for all your talk about how your program is improving, you have not even mentioned the fact that you guys had to come from behind to beat uncg at home. we liked stith, but we did not need him nor would he have received a lot of playing time here. i would take a guy like nickerson who averages 11 ppg. on an elite team against the best competiton in the country versus a guy who averages 20 on a crappy team.

So if Ingram does actually turn out that would be what 1 or 2 of 6 on the spring recruits? I know you had the slow back up European guard that left. Croatian that averaged 4 points in JUCO’s and never plays. 6-6 senior stopgap PF with two blown knees, the Croatian SG that backed PRC up in high school, and a lightly recruited 5-11 combo guard. Yep, I can see why you guys are “waiting around” and keeping your options open with success like that.

As far as Terrance Williams. He was from your hometown and signed 3 years ago before he ever saw you guys play a game under Major. Even that recruiting battle back then was close and went down to the final 2 for a guy that clearly should have had a Charlotte lean. Stith was clearly one of your top targets. You guys had recruited him the longest and hardest of any team. This is recruiting class 4 now. Recruits like Guilmette and Stith know what our programs are about under the new leadership and where we are going, and you see who’s landing them now.

The DII National Championship?

Obviously this guy hasn’t watched any of our games. If you had watched our games, you would note that Clark, Clayton, and Ingram have all been impressive. The sophomores Williams and Nickerson have both improved since last year, and Henry is still a force. Of course, if we had D3 squads on our schedule, our freshman might be tops in the nation among freshman in scoring, rebounding, and assists.

1 or 2 of 6? have you seen clayton or clark play. they will be at least very good players if they are not already. benkovic is the only recruit i do not like but he was brought in for a specific purpose and i would be shocked if he is here for four years. i remember you bragging about prc being better than williams. how did that work out for you? guess what, he chose us not because he is from charlotte but because we are charlotte and you are ecu. it was not for playing time because he did not get a lot last season. again, do you think that stith picked you over us and vcu for any other reason other than playing time. also, you have failed to mention the uncg game.

i think you mean d3.

Still holding on to that JR year high school ranking like it matters now, even after all the struggling he has done. You’re the same guy that said Wakefield Ellison would be a stud for us, and he can’t even start in D2 despite his 89 grade on ESPN. They don’t always get it right but they tried by dropping Nickerson his senior year.

plus we have lester coming in. another guy who was a four star. where are all your four stars. wow,
Yep and his 35%, 24% and 50% shooting splits in high school. Wow.
you have guy who averaged 11 ppg in juco.
-H.S. senior year stats: 19.0 ppg, 10.9 rebs, 7.1 asst, 3.2 stls, 2.2 blks
we liked stith, but we did not need him norwould he have received a lot of playing time here. i would take a guy like nickerson who averages 11 ppg. on an elite team against the best competiton in the country versus a guy who averages 20 on a crappy team.
Player of the year in 3A Virginia on the state champ, over his 4 star brother who's going to UVA. The 7 blocks as game and 80% Free throw shooting was what stood out to me.

Try reading. We were talking about your late period recruiting. You didn’t sign them late, now you have to sign this whole class late. Good luck with that.

I would have like to have landed Stith, good pedigree.

I looked for info on Charlotte still recruiting Guilmette when he landed at ECU, couldn’t seem to find any. If you look at our pages of recruits that we are hard after, generally have many more posts.

We don’t need a player to come in and start for us next year.

Also, Jonesing, you can look at it that we have Lester coming in next year, will help our guard play out. Please go post his percentages from a high school where he was all they had again.

again, have you watched any of our games this season? he is clearly a better player but i guess since he struggled as a freshmen he must be a bust. lester was a great player on a terrible team so he was double and triple teamed every time he touched the ball. he hit 7 straight threes in an aau game and like 6 in the nc-sc game and two very deep ones in the jordan brand classic. how many ecu players were in the jordan brand classic? do you really think stith’s seven blocks per game will translate to college? he is playing center against 3a ball in viriginia. again, how many points a guys scores in high school is pretty irrevelant. there is a reason that our guys are ranked higher than yours. it is because they are better. a kid from my high school averaged like 20 points per game. this was against 4a competition in n.c. there is a reason he signed with app and not duke. it is because there are a lot of qualities that justify the ranking a player gets. attributes that help guess what type of impact they can make in college.

we probably will and i will promise that they will be significantly better than the class that you have coming in.

Whatever helps you sleep. Maybe Major will actually land that 6-9+ guy in May 2013 that he has still been chasing ever since Guilmette commited to us in early Sept 2011. You didn’t back off, on the Guilmette thread you started you even said he was starting to blow up just before he signed with us.

The post that was “just before he signed with ECU” was from April dude, April. Signing days start in November. #JustSayin

we signed thorne. he is 6’10" and has a lot more upside than guilmette. we are going after a 6’10" guy and a 6’9" guy with big time offers and we have a legit shot at both of them. we did not want guilmette. get over it. we wanted thorne. stith is the only one of your recruits i would get slightly excited about if he came here but i would not be jumping for joy. i will if we get atewe and/or blakely. how come ecu is not recruiting them if you guys are on the upside? if i wanted to brag about size i would have bragged about ivankovic when we signed him because he is 6’10" but i didnt because he is not good. just because a guy is tall does not mean he can play. usually if a 6’9" or above guy goes to ecu, he cannot play at a high level. again, you have not mentioned the uncg game.
