Think we might be recruiting shooters?
Some of that is Temple’s defense and a lot of it just our ineptitude
Definitely need to be recruiting scorers.
Well you nailed that one.
Just couldn’t buy a bucket today, it happens especially 3rd game in 3 days. And our team has been offensively challenged to begin with. Oh well, saved a failure of a season into something you can build off going into the offseason. Time for the staff to get to work acquiring talent
Perfect day for Temple. Starters rested and UTSA eliminated.
I do think that it was important that Coach Reed got to experience her first AAC Conference Tournament. I had no idea the first round would be played at North Texas, I was like why. But learned the rest would be held in Fort Worth, so about 37 minutes away from Denton.
It is hard to win a conference tournament when you have to play five straight games, not impossible depending on the team, but it’s a rare occurrence. I remember Kyra Elzy at Kentucky when they won four straight to win the sec conference title, and had to beat South Carolina to do it. I remember that team, I actually thought the break after the conference tournament hurt there momentum, that team could have went a lot further that year. So it’s best to have the double bye but that doesn’t guarantee you will win it, just not tired legs depending on depth of team.
The team really believed in themselves and never gave up on each other. I think that is a really good foundation to have in your program. If I remember correctly, there are five graduate seniors on the team this year, so I really want to see how they balance that in the offseason.
It was a shame that Daphne never got on the court in her final season, but that does for every team who has had an injury, it can really hurt your team. As I have not been able to seen a majority of the games this year. For those who were able to go to games, or watch. I hear needs more talent from a few this year, any positions or anything specifically you all felt was missing from this team?
I feel pretty confident that the schedule will be tougher next year, well if Coach Reed is able to get the games she wants, but I don’t think that will be a problem at Charlotte, at least not yet.
As stated above, this was a good momentum builder going into the offseason. I also expect the offseason to be better now that the coaches are settled in for a full season.
What are the hopes for next season if any? Who do you think will win the conference tournament? I remember asking alexa what was the Charlotte Womens Basketball score, she told me they were embarrassed by Temple with the score. That was cold, I still can’t believe alexa said that. But that just means a lot of work to do in the offseason.
Things might slow down now that the season is over on here, especially after the ncaa tournament is done. So look forward to see how the tournament plays out, and offseason move by Charlotte.
Seeing some of the games from the past couple of days, and looking forward to later today. It gave me a better idea of how they ranked the AAC compared to other Mid Major Conferences. Only one team in the WBIT, with other invitees to the WNIT. I did see earlier in the week Coach Reed and her Coaching staff did give the Trainer Jenn a Nice Gift Basket as an appreciation for her this season.
I also just saw on Coach Reed’s ig story that they are looking for a Strength Coach for Womens Basketball. So that is something new going on also this week. Not sure if the the performance coach for a few of the Womens Programs will just do those now, or if it is in addition too. I haven’t looked anything up, as I just saw it on her story, but not on the Charlotte WBB page, it’s another Charlotte page with how to apply for the job.
So that’s it for now, coaching movements have also happened the past couple of weeks. Names are in the Portal, and Fans are making wish list wanting this and that players. Until next time enjoy the tournaments you want to watch, and have a Good Weekend!
The Portal is open, and Charlotte has three players in the portal Tracey Hueston, Keanna Rembert, and Nia Young. They will be looking in the portal for players also as posted on the Charlotte WBB ig story, but that is the updates so far.
On3 2024-2025 Women's Basketball Transfer Portal Tracker - On3 is where i got my info from.
Don’t see Tracey Hueston on the roster, but that is what they have posted. May be some inaccuracies, so keep that in mind.
Hueston was on the team last season, but not this one. Young may be transferring down and Rembert transferring up. We already needed most everything from graduation losses. Rembert is talented, but appears to be temperamental, which may be the reason she left Illinois to come here.
Good luck to us. Looks like we may have only 2 or 3 returners.
A commitment has happened, don’t know who it is as no name was announced, but coach Reed is excited. Some interesting Coaching departures and Hires this month, going to be really interesting in the next few months. South Carolina back in the Final Four, and UCLA made it for the first time. Let’s see who joins them tomorrow for a trip to Tampa.
Not sure if mentioned somewhere but Keanna Rembert hit the portal and then immediately committed to East Carolina
Well, that places Rembert closer to home for her senior year.
Rembert will fit in well at ECU. Ejected from two games this past season and a constant whiner to the refs. I heard she is engaged and I suspect it is to someone from her home area. One less player we need to scout. Very talented.
Forgot Rembert received her degree in December so going to ECU as a grad student transfer. Gave us 4 years so can’t complain about that at all. Will definitely miss the double digit scoring and the consistent career 5+ rpg. And yes, Raleigh is closer to Greenville than it is to the QC.
Auburn transfer named to 2024-25 SEC all freshman team. Averaged 11.2 ppg.
