Hayleigh Breland has plans to enter the transfer portal per Talia Goodman, also I think Coach Williams has a new opportunity as I saw he is leaving Charlotte, didn’t say what it was, so that is also news you all may not have known. The portal closes on the 23rd, still not 30 percent with a new school or stayed so far. Let’s see how everything pans out, but that is the news so far.
The off season isn’t looking too good. Breland was a Jackson State player who followed coach here, so her being in the portal is troubling
Yeah, this is what the portal does. The timing is the big issue, all of these players doing it so late, leads me to think some offers have been made to them. Or is this to test your market viability, because it’s where the game is now. Either way I don’t know, but it closes next week, so not a lot of time for players doing it now.
Jeff Waltz talked about it, he had a player they were talking to, but another offer came from another school, and they went there. He said he had heard rumors, so he called that coach and asked, and said yes, we really needed that position. In that case they were talking about $300,000 for said player, and agents do all of these things, so that is where we are now.
All anyone can do on the outside is wait and see how everything turned out for there teams next week. Will be interesting to see how Charlotte fills out the roster, and if Hayleigh stayed or left.
Also none of this includes teams or people on behalf of them who have contacted players who were NOT in the portal, the Cincinnati Women’s Head Coach Katrina Merriweather talked and complained about that a couple of weeks ago, and she let people know not to do it, or they will receive a phone call. There is also that to deal with now, but it’s not new, at least not in Football, that goes back YEARS with some schools doing that, but now NIL has added several wrenches and changes to doing that.
Another Commit. Karen Nimo a 5’10 Guard from Eastern Florida State. Has a unique basketball career with only playing basketball her Sr year in highschool. Went to EFS to hone her craft more, and more prep for college, had several D1 offers for only playing one year of high school ball. Could really be something with more experience.
