Charlotte WBB 🏀

So Daphne White must of had a redshirt last season, because she was never cleared to play medically. I know they hoped she would, but you can’t tell until the rehab process is fully underway.

I don’t expect for JuJu Watkins to play at all this year, Ashlyn Watkins may be back, but it’s a wait and see. I did find it so interesting that both have the same last name, with the same injury, and schools with the same three initials.

Staff is complete, dont know who will be the new trainer, so I guess that is all they need now, and that is pretty important for a program. Just wanting to see the other non conference schedule teams when the schedule is complete

I know of him, he replaced Paul Koier, that is the sports performance, Koier had a similar title and also did Womens Tennis too. I have no idea who the Head is for Womens Sports Performance Overall, I looked at all of the names earlier this month. Mens Football has a head position, but all of them are just for football. They have other coaches for sports performance, I was just waiting to see who the head was for Womens sports, and the other positions would just be assistant roles. I may have just missed the name and it is stated clear as day, but when you have assistant position, someone is the overall head. Maybe they don’t have a head position for Womens, but you would tend to think there is.

The trainer deals with injuries and those type of things, helps keep them healthy in that regard. The previous one was Associate Head Athletic Trainer Jennifer Winningham, she went to her home school Tennessee Tech as the Head Athletic Trainer. She got that job in May sometime, and left after she completed whatever it was she had to complete early this month.

Craig Oates is the one at South Carolina Womens Basketball, he help keeps them going, that is a important position. That is the man who wears a ponytail if you have ever seen there bench a few times, as I have that is just for a visual reference. Coach Reed and Staff gave her a gift basket at the end of the season as a thank you. Would think they are looking for a similar position in title, but we will find out.

New Assistant Athletic trainer is Dillon Byrum. Last four years at West Virginia as Associate Director for Womens Basketball and Cheer programs, and also a clinical preceptor up there. Will continue as a clinical preceptor for the UNC Charlotte Master’s of Athletic Training Education Program.

Seems like summer workouts are going good, this group has embraced the challenge. Coach Reed Niece did pass recently, she was getting ready to be a freshman in college, not sure what happened. But they have continued to work, even did some charity in preparing food to be packaged.

I haven’t seen too many coaches do interviews so far this summer but a couple in Grand Canyon and Memphis Womens coaches as far as press conferences go with summer practice.

Did you all hear about Memphis trying to join the Big 12, but not being accepted? I saw the also changed the name of the conference from American Athletic Conference to American Conference now. Seems like three schools from the ACC want to join the SEC I saw being talked about recently also.

Not everyone has the new schedules up, but seeing the schedule Coach Reed got for this season answered a question I had last year. Most of the new teams are on the road & the Cayman Islands. Auburn comes to Charlotte, so that should bring some people in to watch.

I don’t remember Coach Reed & Coach Vickers having an opportunity to play against each other, so this might be the first match up between them. Either way, it’s surely a new matchup for the new programs they lead.

All I know is what I have seen so far, and the players are not slacking off summer workouts and practices. Football will be here at the end of the month, what are the expectations for the football team if anyone here follows?

Coach was hyping up our transfers at an event with the 3 head coaches in July. Memphis is going to leave eventually, they need some dominos to fall first in other conferences. Football is not predicted to be good because of a hard schedule (Georgia, UNC, etc) but we hired a great coach so long term outlook is good. Our AD seemed to be placing fairly high expectations on both basketball programs to be much improved this year

Mentions Alexander is the daughter of former Niner De’Anglo but not that she’s being recruited by us. Hmm…
