Interesting schedule. Play Cal- assume that after/before a game with unc Chapel Hill or something. Also, all away game are bus rides away except for last game against Temple.
Calโs schedule is interestingโฆ visits NC 2x to visit Duke and UNC-CH. Playing Winthrop on first trip in March and Niners on second in April. Also @Clemson a week after first NC tripโฆ I assume they stay over (spring break?).
I see on the schedule that we match up against Davidson at Memorial Stadium in downtown Charlotte. Anyone have the scoop on parking for that? Itโs on a Saturday. Itโs been a half century since Iโve set foot inside that place.
American Legion Stadium is located next to the central campus of CPCC in the Elizabeth neighborhood. There is an adjacent parking deck (pictured below on left - corner of 7th St and Charlottetowne Ave), though I park in the neighborhood off of 7th as it runs up to Hawthorne Ave and walk over when attending Charlotte Independence matches.
Great view of nearby downtown/uptown skyline from the stadium.
Nice stadium. Iโve seen many HS football games there. Iโve seen rock concerts there. Iโve been an extra in a scene filmed there for the TV series Banshee. Iโve seen July 4th fireworks there. Iโve even seen the Charlotte Hornets WFL football team play there.
Yep, saw HS football, Carolina Lightninโ soccer (1981 ASL champs), and Mid Atlantic wrestling (Flair, Steamboat, etc) there in addition to the current Charlotte Independence.
The game at Memorial Stadium is a part of a full day of games.

The Stars/Hornets played in the World Football League. The League used a device named the Dickerod to measure for first downs. Instead of having two poles and a chain, it measured how far the ball was from a 10 or 5 yard line and then extended to 10 yards. It supposedly could be operated by one person.
The success of the Stars/Hornets provided the impetus for Charlotte being awarded the NBA Hornets in the late 1980s.
See that and Cincy and UF left the AAC for the Big XII, which is sponsoring WLAX for the first time this year. Inaugural season also includes Arizona State, Colorado, San Diego State, and UC Davis.
Great, historic site. I saw both Carolina Lightninโ and Carolina Chargers games there in the very late 70s or early 80s. The Chargers were coached by George Sauer (IIRC) the great former NY Jets WR and one game he had Joe Namath there signing autographs (one of my childhood heroes). I remember the place being packed out for that game. Which at that time, meant ~25,000 fans in attendance.
Charlotte 15 Furman 7
Looks like a very rough sport in front of the goal. Compare to ice hockey.
clt says we are a lacrosse school now
Anyone know where โlegalโ parking will be for Lacrosse ?
Weekend. There may be some spots in Lot 23 next to the stadium. Otherwise, CRI deck and validate parking ticket inside entrance 2 underneath the suites.
Pretty much the same as for baseball or softball
