Class of 2023 MBB recruiting thread

Y’all can be negative all you want, but I feel a lot better about this than I did yesterday

Don’t try to bring reason into any discussions about our basketball team. If you don’t think we are a dumpster fire and want to fire whatever coach we have, you will be hammered by the same 4-5 posters.

We will miss Aly’s passing and scoring but we should also be a better defensive and rebounding team.

I think we’ll miss Brice more than Aly. Hard to replace a guy that can get 30 any given night.

We will definitely miss his game. I agree with the Baby Jokic comparison to him, but Jokic has his defensive issues too. I am hoping that the three new guys, Rolf, Graves, and Berry can surprise us this year. I love basketball way more than football, and it hurts for the team to not be good.

Bamba was here for one year.

My point was basically that this past year the offense moved better than at any point since Ron has been here and much of that was Aly’s passing abilities from the high post. He was one of the best passing big men in the nation. We aren’t going to replace that.

I still don’t see this being a winning team, hope I am wrong.

I liked watching Brice and Aly for sure but Aly was slow and passing was his best asset. Brice was dropping 20-30 or just completely disappearing for a game or two. I think they are both replaceable and I hope to see the Niners do well this upcoming year.

Yeah, all I see here is we have downgraded our talent on a team that was below .500 in conference and are moving into a conference that will be possibly more competitive than CUSA.

So far, I’m still buying GA tickets for this season.

Haven’t done a deep dive into the AAC yet but right now only seemingly sure things for 2023-24 will be FAU at the top and Tulsa and UTSA at the bottom.

Tell me, what should we be positive about regarding basketball? If you look at our football threads, its extremely positive

Just reading Jackson made a visit to Provo after Khalifa committed to BYU. Anyway, some vid of our new guy:

Definitely better in the low post than Aly.

16ppg doesn’t impress me. Does he have the nuts and will power to wait and shoot until there are 2 sec on the shot clock to limit our opponents offensive possessions is the question!

For a decade and a half this board was nothing but positivity and “wait until next year!” and “x recruit is the missing piece” and “we are finally putting it together!” and the only thing that materialized was a big Ole pile of dog shit.

Sorry to say but if you lose your best two players and replace them with significantly less productive players and people find great positives in that, I think those people are probably either misguided, unjustifiably overly optimistic, or maybe on the left side short end of the IQ bell curve.

Ninercentral, you just proved my point about the negativity on this board. You question anyone’s IQ that disagrees with you?

I don’t think its overly negative - I think most of us have moved to a position of prove it. No longer are they getting the benefit of the doubt. We lost two significant contributors, off a team that still finished under .500 in league. We added some size. Awesome. Let’s see what they do, until then I am not getting excited about it.

FWIW, Mack is very familiar with a slower paced offense. Wofford averaged 68 possessions per game this past season vs the Niners 63.4. South Carolina averaged 67.5.

BTW, seems fitting that the Niners were sandwiched in between Virginia and last place North Texas in that category.

I say let’s welcome them and see what they do. My feelings towards their coach might depend on it, but I wish them all the success they can grab.
