Class ranked #23 by Hoopscoop

lol, yea just look at the posts that Lefty made, you have to pay big bux to become a member lol.
Then I expect they don't have many members. I think monkeys could make a better website than they have there. At least they could pick a better damn color scheme. Yeeesshh

Good try, they have a ton of members, just because you don’t like their website doesn’t mean they are bad. Hoopscoop is one of the better scouting sites on the internet.

You'd think they would complain about the design then. It may have good content but it is a hideous website.
Just look at Avg. Points/Recruit, that will give you a better look at how we stack up against others.
The only problem with just looking at avg. pts/recruit is that I would rather have three 5 pt recruits and 2 4pt recruits than have only two scholorships at 5 pts each. Just an example but you would have to factor in the number of recruits somehow to get a real recruiting strength measurement. Not trying to turn this into a word problem…just saying there isn’t a really simple way to do this. Their method isn’t good, granted but simple.

Actually, I think a good comparison would be taking the avg. pts/recruits and add to that the number of recruits. That would factor in both and give due credit for large recruiting class (two 5 pt recruits would equal a class of four 3 star recruits, etc.)

I would bet that that just about every college coach/program subscribes to Hoopscoop. It’s packed with information. I’m not saying it’s accurate, just a couple of “expert’s” opinions. Scouting and recruiting is not easy. Look at all the NBA first rounders who end up being a bust…and they were scouted to death.

Regardless of how they do their rankings, this is certainly the best recruiting class we’ve had since…???..Withers & VG? Counting Dewhurst, Gerrity & Jones we pretty much recruited 4/5’s of our starting lineup for the next 2 years in this class. Dewhurst, Wilderness & Jones should be 4 year impact players, we haven’t had more than one of those in a class since…?

Obviously I haven’t seen anyone play, but I’m thinking Gaby might have more of an impact than those listed. He has good size (235 pounds on a solid frame that could easily add muscle mass), a huge arm span, and huge hands. He seems to be a solid defensive player in the post and based on his numbers, is underrated offensively.

Maybe by his junior year he will be an good player, but I don’t see him being anything other than a filler guy next year. Jones is going to be in there as long as he can and when he comes out (foul trouble, needs a break) Gaby will come in. Gaby might get some time at the 4 as well, I just don’t see him getting much though. He is still raw as a player and with some coaching for two years he should turn into a nice player.

You may be right. When I wrote that I forgot that we had signed Mack and Coley, so they will most likely cut down on the playtime that Gaby gets.

Good call. Could easily be the best class (assuming guys live up to the rankings, evaluations, etc) since the class that included Rodney, Demon, Cam Stephens in 1999.

Coley is really scoring high with HoopScoop. He is graded an eight. JJ Hickson that signed with State is also graded an eight by comparison and I think he was a top 30 player coming out of High School this year.

What a stupid ranking system.

And just wait until we sign our 7th recruit…for another 3 points.

That’s pretty amazing. It’s awesome to say we have a top 15 class no matter how they decided to rank them. Hoopscoop does tons of evaluations.

That really surpised me. I’d love to think that he’s that good, but no one else has made a similar comparison.

If he’s on Hickson’s level - well JJ can play. I’ve seen him.

I am with you on that NA. I could not imagine him being that good and not having more suitors than he did. I think his grade really helped our ranking a lot but hey bring on the pub!

“And just wait until we sign our 7th recruit…for another 3 points.”

Well Duh…

We are Charlotte after all. Of COURSE our players would be ranked as 3 POINTS.
What a stupid ranking system.
this is stupid, and yesterday there was a release saying we have the #13 recruiting class…thats misleading.

and if Coley was the athletic freak phenom some lead you to believe, he would avg better than 12 pts 10 rebs in Juco.
