This thread may run until post game next year in Boone. Gbostofclt can keep changing the thread title as the needs arise.
Well they got the deadly CO problem solved, so soon as the constant floods are solved you’ll pass CLT for sure.
Well, that will be a tough position to defend, but there is no doubt that Charlotte is a city that does not rely on the University for its very existence. Boone on the other hand, with its average annual household income of $15,435, would be an even smaller spot in the road than it is today without those foodservice and housekeeping jobs serving the students. You’ve got me there.
If you’re referring to the little boy dying in the hotel, that’s on you my friend. Nothing to joke about.
Boone is not trying to pass Charlotte. Both have great attractions. I’m lucky. I got to go to college in Boone and live and prosper in the great city of Charlotte. I love both places.
However, calling downtown Boone a dump is subjective. Calling University City crime ridden is objective.
Someone’s parents didn’t love them enough. Just drink the Drano already or get back to delivering pizzas…schmuck.
Actually it would appear to be the same or less “crime ridden” than some of the most expensive areas in Charlotte, like East Blvd., Sedgefield, Wilmore. But, you know, we wouldn’t want to let facts get in the way of fouling off at the mouth.
Yes, when the median age of Boone is 21, household income will be low.
I have friends that never left Boone. They’re attorney’s, real estate developers, etc. Do they make as much if living in Charlotte? Hell no. Do they care? Hell no. You could not force them to live in a city.
Nothing wrong with that.
Nope. Nothing wrong with bein’ Skeered of the big ol’ city.
I’m gonna scroll up until I can find the last post that has anything to do with football whatsoever.
Wilmore? Sedgefield? Yikes. These are cool neighborhoods being gentrified, but comparing crime rates does not help your argument. They have plenty of crime. And definitely not some of the most expensive. They might be up there in ten years, but not right now.
At least they are close to some cool stuff in town. University City is close to NODA I guess, but that’s about all. Y’all are close to IKEA. They’ve got excellent Swedish meatballs.
I figured more rusted out pick ups.
Sorry, not everyone wants to move to the generic Oasis that is Ballantyne. People in Piper Glenn are getting pissed right now because it costs more to live in the “ghetto” in Wilmore than half the houses in Piper Glenn. Charlotte is changing into a big urban city, not the suburban white flight encapsulation city it’s been for years. Sorry if you think the only ‘safe’ neighborhoods are the ones that abut country clubs, but you can easily spend equivalent amounts for all but the biggest houses in South Park in other neighborhoods around Charlotte.
It would make sense though that someone who wanted to be coddled by a remote mountain town college experience of almost all whites would also want to live an isolated, all white lifestyle away from all the bad people. Real cosmopolitans them thar mountain people are.
They picked us based on POTENTIAL, and that was even before we pushed out JR. CUSA was wise to extend us an offer just on skyrocketing property values around here plus getting a second Top Golf within Meck county ![]()
We agree the UC area has not embraced and, frankly, I don’t blame them. We are not a winner right now. Why support and promote a loser? The potential is there to make the UC area entirely green and it’s up to us and the AD to win and market it to the surrounding businesses and community.
Too many assumptions to address in this statement. I never even hinted at what your accusing.
You provided a crime map that shows University City, Wilmore, and Sedgefield all on the higher end of the crime spectrum. You proved my point that these are high crime areas.
Also, I looked up the average sales prices in the neighborhoods you mentioned since i’m a member of CMLS.
Piper Glen average $638,299
Wilmore average $406,923
Sedgefield $483,946
You’ve made baseless assumptions about me and these areas of town, and it only proves your ignorance.
I applaud the efforts and hope it works out. It would benefit all of us.
That’s great you have those stats! Wow, you are so cool! In a 30 second glance, the lowest price single family residence in Sedgefield right now is 1600 sq ft and $489,000. Looks like most of the townhouses they are building are over a half a million. For townhouses. Quite a few very well below that in Piper Glen.
Make sense though if you are a real estate agent, the qualifications for that are basically can you spell your name, they’ll even let you do it in crayon, or in an Appies case, a piece of charred wood used to keep them warm from the night before.
