I was not complaining but pointing out an absurd point someone was trying to make to ruffle my feathers. I replied back with politeness while pointing about the absurdness.
I am a mature person that can have a good laugh at some of the humor on the board, and I have even offered up some self-deprecating humor as well to demonstrate my willingness to be a good sport on a guest message board.
I have been wished to have been mugged or murdered by members of this board. I take the high road, which I think does bother some of the Charlotte fans a great deal that I have generally not stooped to the level of wishing harm or death to someone or being a bit of a jerk. I have appreciated the posts on here otherwise and have learned a good bit about the school and its athletics. I stay for the good stuff and brush off the ignorant posts (from both fan bases)
I was going to ask about videos discussing fall camp. App used to have informative (as much as possible at least) daily updates. The person that did that left App State and the offerings having fallen off. I noticed a few short clips on the 49er website that looked similar to what App was offering up for viewing.
Can more be expected closer to the start of the season?
Does Lambert have a coaches show on a weekly basis? Radio call in show worth listening to midweek?
They’ve been pretty open over the years, but not this year. I think the way things went down with Judy last year, Lambert knows he was a big part of that. We can’t even get a practice schedule for fans to attend.
I know the players like the 4-3 thus far, and I know they haven’t decided on a quarterback. That’s all I know.
There is a weekly radio/streaming video show that I think starts a week prior to the season. There was a scrimmage today, it’s getting close to time to name the QB. Maybe that happens now.
Our beat writer is David Scott but like Clayton said there’s been less access to the fans this year.
I think some schools never have open practice so having any sort of access is more than some. For the Great5 schools the fan engagement is more important but I also appreciate a coach keeping information close to their chest, especially in the preseason when there is no film to share .
I’ve been scouring news reports for both of us to see how practices are going and if our new QB is cutting it And to see who yours will be. From what I see your O-line and good backs and lack of quality receivers will make you a run first offense. I know we have talent but with our new QB and a mishmash at the right side of our O-line I have no clue if we are as good as the writers say.
This is similar to my outlook on App this year. They lost a ton, of that there is no debate. I think most of the prognosticators are giving Satt the benefit of the doubt (and that’s understandable he’s earned it) in assuming App will reload instead of rebuild. However the following would give me pause if I was an App supporter
While they did go 9-4 it was against the 130th rated schedule according to Phil Steele. Those 9 victories included close wins over Texas St (2-10 and out gained App by 100 yards), NM St (out gained them by 100+ yards), Idaho (since dropped to FCS), and Coastal Carolina (was leading in the 3rd and had a 3-9 record). Not many marquee Ws there.
This team with a deceptively good record goes from having a #42 Exp rating to #117 according to Phil Steele.
Among these losses is Taylor Lamb, a 4Y starting QB. While their new QB is highly regarded he will have one start at Penn St before coming to town. This is the same Penn St team that called a TO with a minute left to preserve a 50 point shutout vs Georgia St. They will sweep the leg if possible and I don’t anticipate much good experience being gained by Thomas in Happy Valley.
Once again, they may not miss a beat and just reload but I wouldn’t pound my chest to the point that bruises appear if I were an Appy, I’d wait until they’re a few games in to see what I had first.
We did play pretty well against Toledo in the bowl. I would prefer a tougher schedule but it is what it is in that games are lined up so far in advance in many cases it is sometimes hard to know what you are getting into.
Taylor Lamb is a big loss, though if our OL holds up that will go a long way in helping a new quarterback. A second more to develop a play can make all the difference.
I would rather open with GW than Penn State with a new QB but maybe a trail by fire will improve him even more. I just don’t want any inhuries the first week.
Can’t disagree with you…we have some key question marks. Don’t forget our 2 top DC’s are at Georgia Tech and Georgia Southern now, we lost our experienced linebackers and 2 of our 3 starters on the d-line… We wont know anything until we play you. I fear Trey McSorley will lite us up.
