Are there any stats out that that demonstrate some undying love for UNC-CHeat at App that is at a greater level than any other university in this state. I don’t know of any.
It just seems strange that a fan of a school that literally has UNC as part of their name would make an attempt to disparage another fan base over this issue, a silly issue at that. It seems illogical and not very well thought out from my perspective.
Individual evidence is all I have. I know SOME Charlotte grads that also pull for the Holes, but literally every App grad that I know well (6 people) is a Heels fan as much or more than an App fan.
Nothing really, but App had never been connected to UNC-CH in either name or other affiliation until 1972 when every public univ in the state became part of the UNC system. The other poster was making it seem like App Nation is nothing more than UNC-CHeat fans, and UNCC has a stronger tie to the UNC than App does given each schools history. Those are just facts.
This very message board has a thread on the confusion of the names. between UNC-CHeat and UNCC. That does not mean your fan base is any more or less fans of UNC-CHeat than any other school in the state, but there is a stronger connection historically between the campuses in Chapel Hill and Charlotte than Chapel Hill and Boone.
The reality is that every person connected to any campus not in Chapel Hill and Raleigh needs to band together to make sure funds are fairly allocated, which I don’t think is the case. Both flagships have good programs, but they have both had some problems with running clean programs on the athletic side and it has happened more than once over the decades. I don’t know of any major issues at any other UNC system campuses.
I know what you are trying to get at, but life is too short for hate. Also using hate often leads to supporting decisions that may not be in the best interest of your own school-a bit of “cutting off a nose to spite a face” syndrome. That is not to say I have any interest in supporting UNC-CHeat.
I sat next to a guy after a round of golf yesterday at the bar getting a beer. App shirt, Tar Hole golf hat. The evidence is there, just look at your bball attendance numbers. I’ll give him credit that he did know about the upcoming football game. Said he was going. Also said he hadn’t bought tickets. Uh no, bro, you aren’t going then.
He was a Tar Hole wearing an App shirt cause he needs a football team to pull for. And I’ve seen more UNC And NCSU shirts on your campus sprinkled with the occasional Duke shirt…so trying to trash us by association is weak.
Our basketball team has been struggling of late, and we don’t have a lot of tradition to draw on either. If Fox can get us wining we will hopefully start drawing bigger numbers. If not we will let go and start the cycle over. Rinse and repeat as needed.
Are you suggesting there are no tickets available App football if he is not purchased them yet. I 'll take the compliment on behalf of App footbal but many fans don’t get season tickets and for whatever reason purchase game by game as they are able to attend games. I am sure we have some tickets somewhere to sit.
Do you know this person? Maybe he got his undergrad on a hill and decided even better was going to a mountain.
Another option is the reverse, or maybe he just likes both schools. I never said we don’t have some of those fans, just our numbers are no worse than any other school in the state.
Every state has Walmart fans that follow the flagship schools. Outside of some small states like Delaware, Montana, the Dakotas, Maine, the flagship schools are in the Prig5 conferences and that get the media coverage. And I have also run into more than a few non-App alumni at App football that have adopted App as their school. One I ran into a few years ago in the student store was purchasing a ton of merchandise. I thanked him for supporting my alma mater and he went on about how much he loved following the team. It balances out.
Back to football-
Given the heat how much practice is in the morning or late evening? When I was on campus I was around the football stadium and did not notice an indoor practice facility. Does UNCC have anything like this? I did notice a a grass field and your stadium is field turf I think. Does practice go back and forth based on opponent and away game field type?
