Clt starts the super bowl for the appys week chat page

The two turnovers before the half would have killed this team last year. Lost the game because of them but proud of the fight. Just aren’t quite there but watch out for us as they will get better every game. Still learning what it takes to win.

I said it last week that I wouldn’t be happy if we deferred the opening possession. As a huge underdog we should have taken the ball first to set the tone. Not only did we defer but we choose to kickoff into the wind. The 2pt conversion and on-site kick were questionable in my opinion but I can justify that more than the opening possession.

It would be nice to play again within the next 7 years. Though I would prefer LeMay graduate before we play you again.

As I’m driving home to Charlotte, time to read and type. Your hope was to keep it close and not get embarrassed and you did. Now the hard part is losing a game where you outplayed us and still lost. Now our expectations are a bit reversed. You see a bowl game as a real possibility and we are trying to figure out what Roof is doing to our defense. I liked Reynolds play a lot and Tucker . A lot of 9er fans at the game but not as much green as I expected. If we don’t get embarrassed by UNC in 2 weeks and you win the next game I will feel much better.

What are you saying? We clearly brought 50,000 to Boone.

We took over that stadium and easily had 60% of the crowd.

White is a Charlotte color, so if I use Appy logic then everyone in white and everyone in green was a Charlotte fan and we had >90% of the stadium

Well…there were quite a few thousands of your people most of whom were helping with the APP. STATE cheer. That was a nice touch for visiting fans. Thanks!

Well you are a dumbass for walking into a stupid place.

Crapp State is a ceramics school, so shame on you guys for expecting them to do math.

Imagine being a Crapp fan and your own hubris is so amplified that you won’t admit your own team outplayed Charlotte on ST. It was the difference in the game but you want to be snarky to make a joke.

I know this isn’t all of their fans but their fans in 110 were so soft they couldn’t even handle us standing up and cheering for our team. My favorite was the guy calling Benny “fat” and “gay” but then proceeded to watch him run all over their “vaunted” defense. Glad some other App fans in the section had him removed.

Alex Atkins is the real deal. Rewatching the game. Ted roof is not a good D coordinator, but Atkins took his lunch money yesterday. Everytime app would adjust to what we were doing, Atkins would readjust, often presnap. He has a great presnap eye. Many of our counters and misdirection runs really helped mask some our talent defeciencies. App def was better at the line of scrimmage, but we kept them on their toes. When app started loading the box, Atkins took the ball outside. When app blitzed, we filled the middle of the field. When the safeties came down we took the 1 on 1 on the outside. I am thoroughly impressed. Atkins will be a big time OC.

This means, I guess, that they couldn’t figure out that special teams play was the difference between the two teams?

NYC (Rutgers), Phoenix (AZ State), San Fran/Oakland (Cal, Stanford), Denver (UC Boulder) also have heavily attended FBS programs, so your estimate is low.

It’s easier to list the NFL cities that don’t have well-attended FBS programs: Cleveland (Akron is below 20k), Green Bay, Indy, Detroit, Jacksonville, KC and as you said NO, Buffalo, and Charlotte.

Possible he is that good. Probable Roof is a boat anchor.

Player performance plus coaching performance equals team performance. I think that both teams have basically the same players they did last year, and each has a new coaching staff. Last year they thumped us, this year it was much closer to even. The only way you can read this is that our coaching staff has gotten better, and theirs has gotten worse. The only people that seem to be surprised by this are the Appys. It has been written everywhere preseason…ah, that is the problem.

What’s the chance we schedule more games between now and the next 7 years? I know college football OOC opponents are set years out, but is there a chance we schedule a rematch sooner than 2026?

Had multiple App fans on the way out of the game & at a restaurant & Inn in Blowing Rock say that we played them much closer than they expected. Also spent some time with the family of my wife’s nephew who plays for App before & after the game. He actually said that the team & coaching staff expected to blow us out & they didn’t really deserve to win. Guess after last year’s game I kind of understand why they would feel that way. Glad we scared the poop out of them since they didn’t really take us seriously but really disappointed that we made so many mistakes that led to enough points for them to win. I was impressed with the fight our team gave them but man we basically gave them 14 points with the blocked punt & on-side kick & gave up 2 points with the missed PAT & failed 2 point conversion. I think we are definitely headed in the right direction but it stings a little knowing that we were not really outplayed we just made too many stupid mistakes. Despite the disappointment, I’m very excited to see what we can do in this conference. If Reynolds stays healthy & the team continues to fight like they did yesterday I think this team could really make some noise in CUSA this season.

“There really wasn’t a point where I worried about losing the game,” Drinkwitz said. “Any win is a good win.

Fuck ASU.
