Clt starts the super bowl for the appys week chat page

WE parked 1.3 miles from the stadium and arrived in town at 12 noon. It is awful and would not attend games at Charlotte with these parking issues.

I’m glad Reynolds got the start and finished the game based on his play. I was scared a switch was going to happen based on predetermined series swaps. At this point I would assume its Reynolds going forward and Kean maybe coming in if a blow out and or Reynolds is having trouble moving the offense and coach tries to change for a spark.

Or Reynolds gets injured. He took some shots today.

On 10/31/81 Clemson defeated Wake Forest 82-24. Clemson was '#1 that season.

Had a great experience. Most apps were great. Students were students. Would not take kids to an app game if you are rooting for the visitors. Parking was fine. Concessions were fine. Just busy, but that’s a good thing. If app had respectable basketball I wouldn’t mind this being a conference matchup.

It’s very clear we’ve made a very good coaching hire.

That’s absolutely a top 25 offense in college football, and our offense out played them today. Our defense did everything they could do against one of the best offenses in college football. At the end of the day, Drink is a good playcaller and the cupboard he was left was absolutely full.

We are significantly better than last year. I don’t think they are better than last year by any stretch of the imagination. We gained a lot of people’s respect today. I would have to defer to an appy, but not many teams go to app and play like that. Very proud of our guys.

Even more thankful to be a Niner today.

Completely agree.

I thought our offensive playcalling was pretty solid except for the 2 disaster series backed up with 2min before halftime. Chris made good RPO reads all game and threw some dimes. And I was so glad Tucker got involved and played well…every catch he made was tough and were huge plays. I hate we played them so close with a chance to win and gifted them 3 TDs (4 if you count the onside kick they returned for a TD) costing us a win…BUT…A lot of positives…a lot.

Gotta clean special teams up. Badly. That was the difference today

Amen!!

9ers showed a lot of heart. Reynolds was excellent. Healy has done a better job with your talent than Drinkwitz has with ours to date. Still we come up with a W. Hope you had a safe trip . Never saw Clt on the track. I love his guarantees. Best of luck rest of the season.

Any good sound bites from coach on post game show? Update on Deluca’s injury?

It was a one score game for about 5 game minutes the entire 2nd half. We played well, but they made sure to bounce back every time.

Reynolds was great in the 2nd half. I was crushing him for his 1st half performance in the shoutbox, but his 2 TD throws in endzone were fantastic.

I almost hate to say this, because this game wasn’t for nearly as many marbles, but I haven’t had this feeling since the college cup.

Postgame

We have to shore up our defense. Two games with runners going untouched for TDs or long runs. Pass defense seems better than in the past except on the one long scoring pass when the safety do not react to ball or he could have had an INT.

Special teams are awful. Hopefully this will be an emphasis on practice this week.

Any news on DeLucia

Agreed. Need to clean up ST. We have them those 2 TD for the win. Lemay is a stud but need to give him more to run. Tucker had a great catch for TD and heard the App OC game planned to NOT throw to Osborne’s side- shutting half a field off all game. Proud of Charlotte and the direction they are going. Go Niners!

I’m proud of how we played, we went into a top G5 programs home and gave them a game. This is year one and I could not be more excited about the future.

Pros:
Reynolds won the job imo, he played really well.

Our skill players looked dangerous as hell, it was fun seeing us break off plays in big chunks, make catches and all the things I haven’t seen us do.

Defensive line was putting pressure on the QB. Zac is probably the second best QB we’ll face and we made him look uncomfortable.

The sample size is small, but Healy coaches games are fun to watch. Good for the program.

The team played hard as hell, so many points I was ready for App to slam the door on us and we clawed our way back in. We play like that all year and we’re bowling.

Cons:
It sucks to be so close yet so far, especially when you can lay most of the blame on one unit (special teams).

Special teams sucked in all three phases.

Special teams was awful.

Healy made some…questionable calls. I’m not overly concerned about that though considering he’s a young coach and seems open to learning.

This game is an indication that you can’t build a program in a year, App has a solid foundation and solid program and it showed. However in my mind, we’re trending heavily in the right direction and it’s a shame we won’t be able to play them again for 7 years.

Go Niners.

If you are complaining about coaching today, you need to put the liquor away

I posted something similar at the CUSA board, special teams is where your lack of depth can be exposed. We all knew coming into this season our depth was an issue, not sure how much that can be straightened out without increasing level of talent.

I thought Healy coached really well. We had to take some risks to win the game. Hindsight is 20/20 buy I liked all of his calls he made. He was playing to win, not to cover.

As far as how the game was coached I don’t have any issues with it. At the end of the half he was not running the ball to take it into halftime to start with. Then Reynolds gets sacked and fumbles the ball. The next possession you really want to take it into the half because App St is fired up over the turnover and you get the ball to start the half. App had all 3 timeouts and they used them after 3 runs. Yes, you run the ball in that situation so that the offense doesn’t have a timeout to work with after the punt. The punt gets blocked. There was nothing wrong with the coaching decisions there.

The two point conversion try was fine at that point. It really had to happen in my opinion because no underdog wants to go into OT on the road. At that point they had two chances at a successful conversion. I actually liked the call there. I also liked when the timeouts were used. Those were great timeouts.
