College Football Playoff 🏆

It’s not going away but if year over year it’s down 12% that should be a warning sign, especially when that was as TV match-up friendly as the championship game could be.

This would be an optimal CFP schedule. Taking 2026[-27] playoffs all the way out to Jan 25 is crazy.

Enjoy the next CFP. Won’t be surprised if it’s the last including the G5/6.

If so that will be the perfect reason to split off.

clt says don’t share this, but the new cfp playoff will be big v sec.

top team in the big and sec will get a bye. the top teams will play each week in a playoff format until a winner emerges from each league. then after a week off for a skills competition, a mega bowl will be played. taylor swift will attend if her current boyfriend is playing for one of the teams. the halftime show will be too long

The unanimity thing would be big if it extended beyond next season. SEC and B1G completely control things from 2026 on…

Which sucks. Hate that they were given that much power.

The 14-team “4-4-2-2-1+1” format — most discussed among the leagues — would grant four automatic spots for the Big Ten and SEC, two for the Big 12 and ACC, one for the Group of Six, plus an at-large bid intended for Notre Dame if it finished high enough in the rankings. The reaction to the format, both last spring and last week, drew a visceral reaction from some within the college sports community.

Notre Dame with its own auto bid is insane. At least they’re talking about keeping the G6 around for table scraps.
