Conference Realignment (Part 1)

Joining a football-only league for hoops would be “interesting” to say the least!

I think you are giving Ron WAAAAAY too much credit :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Big 12 has to be the choice if they have one. Can’t see that happening though unless no p12 schools want to join.

The power move for the B12 is to take SDSU and 3 of the PAC10 schools instead of 4 PAC10 schools if at all possible.

SDSU is already better than all four corner schools except AZ in basketball.

Putting SDSU in a P5 will unleash their full potential.

I refuse to believe that SDSU will not be a stronger football school than any of the four corner schools other than Utah in the next five years if they join the B12.

And Utah wants to stick to the PAC anyway.

This plan hurts the PAC and strengthens the B12.

And gives them the coveted pacific time zone slot.

Question is though would SDSU prefer to join PAC and help hold that league together? More natural rivals there.

SDSU playing west coast schools seems more appealing than playing WVU, UCF, and Kansas State.

Couldn’t think of a better place to put this, but it probably has implications for this topic, the next AAC rights deal, etc:

I’m not laughing at this. Very worried about the next AAC deal after seeing this.

Yeah I anticipate a decrease in the future.

We could do our part by not sucking at basketball and try to elevate the league.

I think the AAC will be alright, Aresco is an ESPN guy and the league has been built from the begining as an ESPN product. The PAC12 is a dying animal that is over confident of its own worth.

They probably have a secret desire to be in the same league with Cal, forcing Cal to hold their nose and actually have to be in a conference with a CU school (yuck!!!).

I get the possible desire to be in the Pac for SDSU but i think B12 will be the stronger conference moving forward over the years.

It’s already way better in basketball and has shown great improvement in overall football performance even before Texas and OK move to the SEC.

OMG guys, Texas and OK only have one more year in the B12. Then they are gonna face a nice reality check in the SEC.

What a complete failure of vision for them to leave the B12 just as the playoff expands.

They have totally screwed themselves competitively.

I guess they can wipe their tears with all that cash……

Agreed.

Washington and Oregon are just chomping at the bit for the B10 invite and when it comes they will be gone fast.

I can’t imagine a world where those two schools along with the four corners schools would ever sign a grant of rights with the PAC that locks them in place like the ACC teams.

That will ensure the PAC remains fragile and it will lose teams and be relegated to lower level status.

Just a matter of time.

I agree the PAC is fragile and dwindling, but its just crazy for there not to be a strong Pacific west coast conference!
