True but MW already includes a football only member in Hawaii, so taking on a basketball + Olympic sports member like GCU would be akin to Navy and Wichita State in the AAC.

A reminder about MWC exit fees.
This is gonna get sticky.
This is why I think there will be a PAC+MWC “merger”. The difference being that all the MWC programs would have to be allowed in.
Else the exit fees kick in.
Unless the schools disband the MWC.

Guess Mr. Cliche not familiar with the now defunct Southwest Conference or the original Big East!
clt bets the mwc or aac absorb the pac2.
do cal berkeley and stanford go independent? aac would take them and we have the academics with Rice, Charlotte, and Tulane to make them feel at home.

Someone call @FreezingColdTakes
Excellent piece for those who subscribe to the Athletic:
How about a MWC+PAC-4+AAC Merger for a true American conference!
Mandel pretty much hits the proverbial nail on the head:
You may disagree, but it seems like the big winners in all this so far are BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, UCF and the Sun Belt. The first four are obvious due to becoming P4 schools. Sun Belt got stronger in multiple sports (especially soccer) and lost no one.
Big losers are the remaining PAC teams and probably C-USA.
But the biggest winner of all is clt, who let us know he owns stock in American Airlines
The P5 just became the P4. And the G5 just became the G6.
Unless something crazy happens with the rest of the G6 this dramatically increases the chances of an AAC team getting a playoff berth.

Screw those pricks.
Yep. MW in the driver’s seat here.
clt says the aac awaits the eastern version of this when the acc breaks up.
