Texas State makes sense but the MAC attraction does not. Looks like NM State and UTEP could get screwed over. Aggies have long been decent in hoops (though there was the recent hazing scandal) and football too as of late so don’t quite understand what exactly is going on here.

The MWC should add all 3. Texas State, UTEP and NMSU.

Yep. Forget NIU and Toledo. Would assume the main attraction of the former is the proximity to Chicago.

Those mid week games are horrible for attendance, I can get trying to get away from those if you’re in the MAC. Don’t think anyone will jump though if it’s not all sports. I’d grab UTEP and Texas St and call it a day.

If MW would take NM State, Texas State, and UTEP - plus Hawaii full-time - would give conference 10 members. Allows for a nine game league football sked and 18 for conference hoops. No brainier and a fairly tight geographic footprint all things considered. Folks at the Colorado Springs HQ are really overthinking this.

Doesn’t shock me one bit. NIU has wanted out for a while now and Toledo has wanted to separate their brand from just being another Ohio directional school. It was only a matter of time before bigger conferences starting targeting the MAC. Buffalo wants out too but they want a more eastern conference. I feel pretty positive though that NIU and Toledo would rather go to the American than the mwc. We just don’t have the space at the moment.

Again I said it once and I’ll say it again. Regionalism is dead.
