Hmm…
Of course, actually need 2 to get to 8 full-time schools.
PAC seems in a bit of a pickle. Who do they take to get to eight?
They can grab a sbc (Texas state) or cusa school no problem if they have no other options.
If I were Texas state and had an option between the aac and pac though, I’d take aac to be with three other Texas schools unless they money was just dramatically better…which at this point is a complete unknown.
No brainer for UTEP/nmsu to PAC or MWC though.
Really think the PAC should consider Texas State. Excellent opportunity to open up that state. They don’t have a ton of options.
Have to wonder if New Mexico is stonewalling NM State - and, in turn, UTEP - to the MW. If so, just plain dumb.
And speaking of dumb, also wonder if the MW leadership is viewing the Northern Illinois vs NC State game today as something of an “audition” for the Huskies. NIU keeping it close so far in Raleigh.
The obvious choices for the PAC are Texas State and New Mexico State. All schools would have “State” in the name.
Hopefully this conference will eventually State their business.
Many Sunbelt school fan bases live in an echo chamber and think very highly of themselves. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a CUSA move to the Sunbelt but I believe the CUSA exit fee isn’t cheap for schools with already tight budgets.
Eventually it’ll be all 12 spots they demand
Sure, we will agree, as long as the next 8 slots go to each of the other 8 conference champions.
If more slots are required, we can add 4 more at larges that cannot go to SEC or B1G teams.
Your move, jackasses.
Baby steps but the super league inches closer.
Hearting the formation of a “super” league? That seems completely opposite of what’s best for Charlotte and college football in general.
Schedule partnership will actually hurt them since their big named schools won’t have a cake walk to the national championship. It will be great for TV though.
It’s not a matter of if but when. Just my opinion, but the sooner those 30-40 teams chasing an ever bigger check get on with doing their own thing, the better. Then everyone “left behind” can move on as well. Doesn’t mean the end of all college athletics, though it will likely be something different than it is now.
Sports like Baseball and Soccer are teaching me that I will probably like “left behind” sports more than the idiocy of what we have now.
Get rid of the semipro teams and get back to something resembling college sports. At 90 or so teams they aren’t going to be ignored, no matter how hard ESPN tries to. There are too many collective ESPN+ / carriage subscribers to ignore them in bulk, and the sports will be more interesting being more regionalized and less mercenary.
