Conference Realignment

They are def overplaying - but it won’t become apparent until after it’s all done. They are just looking at $$$$

Who’s gonna stop them?

Everytime I bother consuming sports media, the masses lap this stuff up like it’s some kind of GD manifest destiny for the P2.

I’ve only started listening to them in the last few month so they may have been sounding the alarm back then.

From what I can tell they are pretty cool and seem balanced in their coverage and on the right side on the CFP and realignment debates.

I believe Wetzel recently went on a rant about how we should have smaller conferences not bigger ones. Which I wholly endorse.

Yeah as long as the networks are paying them there isn’t a back stop on the insanity.

It won’t be until fans start disengaging and stop donating to schools and NIL decreases and ticket decreases that they will wakeup.

College sports succeeded because it wasnt the NFL. By basically making this a pseudo NFL you are removing everything that made it special. Will the fanbases stick around and continue to grow? Sure the ones that are winning maybe, but unless the agree to some sort of revenue sharing and caps - those fanbases will tap out.

I listen to Yahoo’s College Football Enquirer on occasion and it’s usually pretty good. Hasn’t been around too very long, though I do remember Pete Thamel was in the original trio before leaving for ESPN, at which point Dellenger joined Forde and Wetzel.

Anyway, they aren’t everyone’s cup of tea - just like the guys at Field of 68 - and that’s cool.

These guys talk like they have insider info but who knows.

Those three are only committed until they aren’t…other than academics, I don’t get the Tulane love. I like being in a conference with them…but Memphis fans are almost as bad as JMU and Appy fans…wait, reverse that…they’re all obnoxious as crap.

Tulane outside of few years of success in football has a tiny fanbase. USF has a larger fanbase and some money but zero recent success. Memphis is a paper tiger as well. Football has tons of money and the appearance of being a big deal but not a whole lot to back it up.

I like being in the same league as all three of them but it’s comical for them to think they’re holding this whole thing together.

yeah I like being in a conference with Tulane because of their academics which helps the conference look good in that regard. but I really do think they are overvaluing themselves at the moment due to recent on field success.

Also though it illustrates how quickly success on the field and court can elevate you in the realignment musical chairs reality we live in now.

Tulane, Temple and Memphis are the only football champions in the last 10 years still in the conference.

It would go a long way if someone else wins the conference this year.

Agreed, its crazy how much Temple has fallen off both in basketball and football. I remember the year they hosted gameday and came to Charlotte ranked during the tropical storm.

Not exactly sure what “merger” means here:

Wouldn’t mind that as long as we are included but I’m not sure what that PAC 18 logo is all about. Don’t we have 14 and they already have 6 or 7?

That’s the sign that someone would be left out of this “merger”

Looks like 3 could be left out. We better start winning NOW.

I mean I know it’s all speculation and just looking at different options at this point. This guy knows nothing other than they are exploring a lot of different scenarios.

Pac-12 currently has 8 and AAC has 13, so that is 21. So, yes, probably some schools being left out if 18 is the cutoff point. Hmm…
