I get why tech wants to leave. That will significantly reduce travel costs and probably increase attendance, but what does the sbc really get out of adding tech? They already have two Louisiana programs. I can’t imagine a third helps them much unless they just need a school to fill that spot to keep their media contract intact.
It is a pretty nice little conference now though for the schools along the gulf coast
What a great opportunity for them. They have loads of potential. Nice facilities, huge student body, and I’m sure they have at least one alum with fuck you oil money that could someday pump money to them like fertitta did with Houston.
Looking like the actual Texas State to the Pac-12 official announcement will come either tomorrow or Monday. Just as long as it’s before July 1 in order to avoid a doubling of the Sun Belt exit fee.
I think they’re going to flourish in that league.
They’ll probably win. NCAA loses everything.
clt learned today that there is a texas state
Yep. Former UNCC provost Denise Trauth served as Texas State prez for 20 years before retiring in 2022.
Boise State
Colorado State
Fresno State
Oregon State
San Diego State
Texas State
Utah State
Washington State
Still weird to look at. Seems like you’d have to try to make this happen.
And Gonzaga - the outlier in more ways than one! ![]()

“Conference USA” got ridiculed as a name when it was announced (especially when they said the USA part stood for United Student Athletes
)
I think this sounds worse. Is this a sports league or a bad airline?
I had pretty much forgotten about the UAC since its original inception as a football only conference comprised of teams from ASUN and WAC schools.
Yep, as with AAC and CUSA, UAC is a pretty generic moniker.
At this point the only P or G5 conferences that have name that remotely makes sense is the Sunbelt and MAC

I’d take Western Kentucky over La Tech all day long. What does La Tech offer over them? They already have multiple schools in Louisiana.
WKU football just as good if not better, much better basketball (and arena), and fills in a hole in this map:
Honestly they really oughta add MTSU too.
