Speaking of The CW, reminded that the networkâs Charlotte affiliation will change on September 1st. Moving from WCCB to WMYT.
That leaves WCCB with no network affiliation, correct?
That doesnât sound good for that station.
What affiliation will WCCB be?
Will be an independent as far.as I can tell from the dearth of information coming from 1 Television Place etc.
Just like in the olden days.
Reading a history of WCCB TV is pretty interesting. Reminded that Ted Turner flipped NBC from WCCB 18 to then WRET 36 when WSOC switched to ABC in 1978.
He also personally hosted a telethon to raise money to keep the station on the air. I have a friend who donated and eventually got her money back with interest. Amazing story.
If something like this ever grew any legs, Iâd probably set up a new thread for it:

This is how March Madness operates, but the B1G 4 want just their teams in that tournament.
This would work, but the NCAA has to be willing to take control like the NFL/MLB/NBA and allow for a playerâs union. Congress would also have to grant an antitrust exemption, and I donât know that SEC/B1G states would vote for that.
Cy Bahakelâs place used to be the only thing in Weddington. Times they have changed.
UC San Diego to the WCC is something of a head scratcher. Will be the first public school in the conference in 45+ years plus the fact that the city of San Diego is already represented by religious private University of San Diego. Then thereâs the size differential - UCSD will be the largest institution with over 42,000 students. By comparison, crosstown USD has an enrollment of 7,500. Currently Loyola Marymount and the âotherâ USF are the biggest schools with around 10,000 each.
Per todayâs announcement of the Elon and Queens merger, seeing conflicting reports about what that means for the respective sports programs.
More as it becomes available.
I graduated from Elon in 1985âŚthis is probably more about in stability at Queens, or thatâs my first take on it.
