And sadly… most people are celebrating what it is becoming.

He does at least agree with the roughly 40-50 program breakaway. That’s going to leave a lot of programs behind including most of the ACC.

50 is def high side.

If it’s that low the new second division will be in great shape.

IF they work together!!!

Hopefully when the break comes it’s a complete divorce. Then the so-called Super League can go off and do its own thing with absolutely no say so etc over those remaining in the NCAA. And sooner the better.

100 % on that.

I want them gone.

And I don’t want them playing the second division.

See how they all like beating the crap out of each other every year with no easy wins from FCS or G5.

And no uneven schedules.

They won’t be able to have 7 or 8 home games in the super league.

I’m sure their fans are gonna love that!

The great Tim Vickery of World Football Phone In fame said it best about super leagues back when that was in the air in European soccer.

super leagues make big teams medium, medium teams small and small teams tiny.

They may make a lot more money but they won’t have that much fun. Not the majority

Us left behinds can reorganize regionally if some of us don’t stick our noses in the air and try to make a national ā€œbest of the restā€ or a national ā€œbest academicā€ conference.

If we are smart we can survive and thrive.

Go back to regional 8 team leagues, have true round robin schedules in both football and basketball.

Have real playoffs in football like current FCS.

Absolutely - if they leave, the ncaa needs to boot them from everything. No March madness no football games to get to a winning record no ncaa sponsorship of tournaments. It’s all on them. I won’t watch a second of their shit.

Amen. Tell it NWA. I agree wholeheartedly!

I would be fine with us left behinds recommitting to the NCAA and leveraging the NCAA tournament brand.

Super league is not allowed in.

If we can reconstitute the NCAA and its branding then we will be the defacto college sports - the super league will be something else.

If this happens it will be critical for the remaining teams to rationalize conferences (regionally) and divisions (competitive balance) to produce the best product possible.

Drop all facility size requirements, revenue sharing requirements, etc.

Make it as inexpensive as possible to maintain sports and maintain football.

Why is this critical?

Simple.

Making it inexpensive to start football could result in more schools starting football.

In the Carolina’s alone you could be looking at Wilmington, Greensboro, High Point, Upstate, Charleston and more starting football.

Not sure I would like that…I want to be in a Conference with Army/Navy, UAB, Rice, ECU, etc. If regional means being in conference with Appy, maybe that appealing to some (though I personally prefer it being a non-conference game)…

Could some good reorganization make sense? Yes, but I don’t see the benefit of watering down who we play and associate with as positive….there will still be left-behinds out of a super league and we need to do whatever is possible to associate with American Conference and left-behinds that our fans want to play…ie, ACC left-behinds. Just my two cents. I want Charlotte to be in a conference with comparable institutions (academically, size, etc.).

Id love to recreate the old METRO style league. Large urban research universities.

I had already thought that as have many others.

They do have a press conference scheduled for tomorrow so he’s just trying to get his prediction in early in case he’s right.
