Conference Realignment

Can they get a television deal like Notre Dame? That’s the only way they can go independent and be successful in the current era. Television money rules the sport and I don’t see them getting $45-$50 million, or whatever the ACC is paying them a year, by themselves.

If Amazon jumps behind Miami with a broadcasting deal it’s a game changer.

I posted this in another thread and everything I have heard since just solidifies my belief in it happening.

Step 1. 24 team playoff

Step 2. Make teams see the value of independence in their own future plans and have some P2 Big Boys start the rumor / process of setting up a ND independent model.

Step 3. Big Boys break away around 32 teams because of the threat of independence from teams from the P2 conferences to save the day and the sport. Hurrah!! The sport is saved.

Set the new Mega Conference / aka media deal around 32 to 36 teams. Go heavy on a public relations blitz where they convince everyone that going to 32 to 36 is a gift to fans instead of holding it down to 24 teams. Get the Corporate media talking heads all in line to get the word out that what they are doing is great for the sports future and the only way to save " college football ".

This will work for awhile till the greed kicks in again and they start another round of destroying themselves from within that would make NASCAR jealous.

“Sources”

Of course UNC would want to go independent if that legislation passed. Why would UNC want to comply with rules that make for a more competitive landscape?

It use to be fun when you could compete on the merits of your school, not rely on the number of digits on your NIL recruitment checks.

The competition is now more about “who can write the largest check.” Darn shame!
