Thanks Moss. I was surprised that draftexpress even knew that Curt existed. I looked up player try-outs on their site and you can scroll down to find the player you’re looking for and Curt wasn’t even on it. Ian Mucous was though.

I think you can round that off to 6’7", that’s what draftexpress lists him at. Roster had him at 6’8" 246 which was probably fairly accurate weight-wise before the season started.

Definitely not NBA PF size. Lutz certainly gave him every opportunity to develop his floor game.

He was a hell of a rebounder for 6’7".

Great point. Same deal with the coaches freeing up Basden on the offensive side of the ball his last couple of seasons. He had NBA defense but giving him a major role in the offense did wonders for his NBA stock.

I still think Withers has an outside shot at the NBA. He has NBA athleticism for the PF position and rebounding skills, if he develops defensively he will get a chance. He should dominate in Europe if he goes over there, he will get a role similar to his sophomore and junior season here.

Curts height with shoes only went up 1/2 an inch. Some of the other players went up 1 1/2 inches. Pretty big dispairity.

1 1/2 inches! How shameful!

I’m glad no Charlotte player ever did something like that. After all, what kind of person would lie and say they’re 7 feet tall when they’re actually under 6’10"?

I believe he was reffering to the measurements taken at the camp, done by people not associated with the player or school, which only went up half an inch for Withers. Other players height went up 1.5 inches after they put shoes on. It is odd that some players shoes give them an entire inch more than Wither’s shoes did.

WOOHOOO!
Curt finally gets a workout.
Who: Connecticut’s Josh Boone (6-10 center), Gonzaga’s J.P. Batista (6-9 center), Charlotte’s Curtis Withers (6-8 forward) and Florida State’s Alexander Johnson (6-9 forward).

Memphis no less. Maybe the remember the 32 points he scored in that pitiful C-USA tourney game his junior year. He was the only player we had show up that night.

"We've been impressed with his ability to go to the glass."

He’s getting his chances, even if he isn’t drafted Memphis would seem like a good team to sign him.

Barkley was 6’4. Elton Brand is an inch shorter than Curtis. Udonis Haslem is the same size and starting in the NBA Finals (although he has much better hands).

He has some flaws, but the guy rebounds like a beast. Someone is likely to desire that kind of effort guy. Won’t surprise me if he gets picked up or dominates in Europe.

All the guys you mention were much bulkier than Curtis. Lots more trunk space, if you catch my drift.

Mike, are you sayin Curt dont got no junk in tha trunk?

Not as much as the round mound of rebound, fo sho.

I talked to curt briefly for a minute yesterday questioning those #‘s on his height. He said he didn’t know but he is definately not 6’6 thats some crap. he said he is right at 6-8’ and that has to be a typo.

What kind of shoe was Curt wearing to only up his height by a half inch? A normal tennis shoe gives you 1 1/2 inches and a flip flop gives you 3/4 inch (just measured).

Withers also was the 4th fastest guy in camp, he had the fourth fastest sprint time in Orlando.

Didn’t realize he was so fast.

Curt was ranked the 10th best athlete in the camp …
