I’m paying for zero streaming rn. HBO is included with my internet and prime which I’d pay for anyway. We turn Netflix on when we want to catch up. I pay for ESPN plus during basketball season. If you aren’t careful you just end up paying as much as cable and it’s all scattered across platforms.

Streaming has also gotten way more expensive. They actively encourage people like me to cancel when we are in the middle of a show with their pricing. Still glad streaming model is here, but ya have to be careful.

I basically rotate the streaming services throughout the year and pause my YTTV for 3 months a year when we aren’t watching it anyway. Ends up saving me about $500 / yr and we don’t miss it.

Kids man. They mess up that plan.

I keep trying to drop services but the kids and wife but also soccer.

Right now:

Amazon - prime anway
Netflix - youngest
Disney/ESPN/Hulu - me and youngest
Stars - wife
Apple - wife
Paramount - soccer
peacock - soccer
Sling - oldest also me for FS1 soccer
HBO i think I’m still paying for that thru Amazon

But serious kids F things up vacations, nights out and TV LoL

$43. Oof. Add similar fees for standalone ESPN, and suddenly cable / YTTV is a bargain.

Yeah, we’re slowly getting back to where cable may be a viable option again. If the streamers ever institute contracts where we can’t cancel whenever we want, all bets are off, imo.

I spend $0 on streaming rn and it’s great. It’s amazing how much TV you can live with without.

I have HBO included with my phone internet and Prime which I’d have even if it didn’t come with TV. I pay for Netflix when I’m watching something and cancel it when I’m not. I usually have it 2-3 months a year. I got a year of Peacock for $20 on a BF deal and watched Yellowstone. That’s all I’ll be using if that. I will do sling or yttb during basketball season to watch our games and I pay for Plus during basketball and football season. Basically I pay to watch the niners and that’s about it.

Honestly it feels foreign to me now to think people spend a couple grand a year on TV. Especially knowing how little quality entertainment is actually out there.

Cut the cord over 10 years ago and haven’t looked back.

I get crushed because of three things.

1 - Kids (Disney, Netflix, Hulu)
2 - Wife (Stars, HBO, Apple)
3 - Me (Soccer FS1, Paramount, Peacock)

Every time I try to drop one its a riot.

If I wasnt married with kids this would be way cheaper.

I have YTTV on pause again.

I don’t mind paying for Netflix and Prime and HBO til HoTD is over. It’s not that much.

Google TV also has its own TV Guide that aggregates all of the free TV services into one guide. You can set favorite channels, etc. My family watches that so often that the only reason I really have YTTV anymore is for sports.

It’s that way in everything. Not just tv watching.
