Wifi? Or you mean Fiber vs cable internet?
Wifi is just how you distribute the signal around you house / apt. The big difference is how it gets to your house.
Fiber is way way way better than cable for Internet. It’s synchronous. Cable is asynchronous.
Easiest explanation: pretend internet connection is a highway.
Cable: Maybe 4-6 lanes going out, 1 lane coming back. Your neighbors share the road.
Fiber: 16 lanes. 8 each way. Almost never goes out or slows down. You get all 16 lanes to yourself.

I have always wondered why the city doesn’t require power lines to be buried in areas of new construction. Figured Duke Energy has some sort of deal to minimize having to do so.

Definitely money as far as Duke is concerned. Probably cheaper to buy off politicians anyway.

Oh its definitely money. Talk to any Duke engineer about future lines and they have been trained to spit numbers at you on the sillines of even going underground.
It’s like anything. You get what you are willing to pay for. Is extra on your bill EVERY MONTH worth avoiding the inconveniences of a statistically super-rare event (at least time wise)?
My neighborhood has buried lines and it’s nice, but the power that gets too my neighborhood still goes through high voltage overhead lines and exposed substations. I’d say the buried lines in the neighborhood only let me miss one out of ten outages. Most outages are localized to substation component failure or traffic accidents taking out poles.
Two winters ago, right before Christmas, one of our two 120v main lines to the house failed. For the next 4 months I had to crawl my butt out of bed (sometimes multiple times a night) to go flip a switch on a portable transformer in my back yard ( which technically I wasn’t supposed to touch but the guy who brought it explained what to do because he realized the clusterf*** I was about to live through). Once they DID come to replace the line my driveway sprouted new cracks and the one flat place in my yard now is as torn up as the rest.
My point is there’s always trade-offs. OHL’s are just easier and less expensive to repair when they do go out.
I mean I would. but thats because it feels like my power seems to go out like once a month if there is a slight breeze where I live. It once went out for a week. On christmas week! I had to shower at work.
We have underground power lines in the neighborhood. We still loose power frequently during storms because the lines that feed the neighborhood and in the surrounding area are still above ground.
