Danielle Trotta... you are what's wrong with our fanbase

So I’m driving home from work today, and I have Primetime with the Packman on (I know, I know, you all hate me now). Annnyyways, they have Danielle Trotta of WBTV on as a guest, since she is in some female news anchor of the year contest they have going on.

So Packer starts asking her about her job, interests, hobbies, etc. First of all, she starts off by mentioning she is a Charlotte 49er. Just as I was about to think, “hey this is awesome, this chick on Primetime is going to give us some love”, it starts to go downhill… fast.

She starts out by whining about how the alumni get on her when she forgets to report the Niners scores. Well NO **** DANIELLE! Of course we want you to DO YOUR JOB. So that’s the first thing that got my blood boiling, the bitching about our alumni actually wanting her to report the Niners scores along with the ACC, SEC, etc that she reports.

OK so then Mark starts asking her about her interests. The convo turns to sports, and he asks her what her absolute favorite thing in sports is, and she says… YEP! You guessed it! GOING TO CHAPEL HILL TO TAR HEELS GAMES! No, she didnt mention anything at all about the team of the school she actually went to. She then goes on about what a huge Tar Heels fan she is, and starts talking smack to Mike Giminski about Duke. I’ll bet she has no ill will towards Cincinnati, Davidson, etc, but boy she suuuure hates those Dukies! :rolleyes:

This is just so typical and makes me so sick. It’s people like her that are the reason our alumni donation % is so damn low. Have some pride in your school.

I know she is probably a nice girl and maybe she does give to the school, come to games from time to time, etc, but to be on the radio and give your team no love, complain about the alumni, talk up Chapel Hill… that’s just wrong for a Niner to do.

sad, but true.

Sad fact is Packer will probably pull this example out during hoops season and rip on the Niner fanbase.

my god, it is depressing to think that show stays on the air.

We need leadership like that at UNC-Boone and UNC-High Point.

Somebody in leadership needs to be a public figure and talk publicly about the school.

yes, I know HPU is not in the UNC system. But until our name is cleared up, I’m calling all schools in NC by the name UNC-something.

I was told that Mark Packer got a General Studies degree from Clempson.

People need to remember Packer gives a damn about sponsors for his show…nothing else. What do the sponsors sell? Doesn’t matter, he’ll pimp anything.

I actually sat beside Danielle in journalism class at Charlotte and got to know her very well.
Really cool girl with a very charming personality and demeanor but definitely [B]not [/B]a 49er’s fan.
She absolutely loves the tar heels and spoke about it many times in class.
Out of a class of 30 students I was the only one that followed Charlotte athletics, and this is a classroom full of journalism students.
Hard to get our name out there when your future newswriters and television anchor alumni don’t even care about their university.
I spoke with Danielle about this subject many times and I hate to say it but she acted like she could care less and it appears that her attitude hasn’t changed over the last 2 years. I will definitely be sure to give her a hard time the next time I see her though.

What are the odds that Packer had discussed this stuff with her beforehand and knew what she was going to say? There is a CHANCE the questioning may have taken a different route if she was a Niner fan. I’m not saying Packer urged her on, but I am saying I won’t be surprised if he did.
