Danielle Trotta... you are what's wrong with our fanbase
What are the odds that Packer had discussed this stuff with her beforehand and knew what she was going to say? There is a CHANCE the questioning may have taken a different route if she was a Niner fan. I’m not saying Packer urged her on, but I am saying I won’t be surprised if he did.
Packer would NOT talk to her if she was a Niners fan.

The IQ in that studio is extremely low.

Is QCB still on there? His comedy routine stopped being funny in 3rd grade.

I actually sat beside Danielle in journalism class at Charlotte and got to know her very well. Really cool girl with a very charming personality and demeanor but definitely not a 49er's fan. She absolutely loves the tar heels and spoke about it many times in class. Out of a class of 30 students I was the only one that followed Charlotte athletics, and this is a classroom full of journalism students. Hard to get our name out there when your future newswriters and television anchor alumni don't even care about their university. I spoke with Danielle about this subject many times and I hate to say it but she acted like she could care less and it appears that her attitude hasn't changed over the last 2 years. I will definitely be sure to give her a hard time the next time I see her though.

Next time you talk to her ask her why she’s a tar hole fan and what they ever did for her.

I was one of those people that sent her an email about not showing our score. It was after the last game of the season, where whether we won or not would determine if we got a first round bye in the A10 tourney. The show wasn’t even the regular newscast. it was the full sports show on the weekend. I was already in bed so I didn’t want to get out of bed and check the computer. I watched the whole damn show and she didn’t even mention the score, much less show a highlight. That was after she did show Davidson and Winthrop highlights.

She responded and was very apologetic. But this is discouraging to hear talk like this about UNC-CH on local radio.

glad you know her…tell her to beat it

she’s brutal

Delano,
I have always loved and respected your sportscast, I think your persona is awesome. I was raised in CLT, went to Providence HS, I live and breathe 49er sports. Never in 15 yrs have I had an issue with WBTV’s sports, but today I do. I was listening to Daniel Prada’s WFNZ air time on the air today on WFNZ. She said her favorite thing was UNC Tarheel sports (while you guys market her as a 49er). I have never been so livid after hearing her comments. Please tell her to QUIT pretending to be a 49er. 49ers with any pride of their diploma and alma mater, do not go on the local radio show and proclaim allegiance to UNC-CH.

Since 1984 I have been a viewer of WBTV sports, but I will not watch another second of WBTV news with Daniel doing sports. Her appearance on WFNZ today was a slap in the face…a true disgrace.

Here is a link to the 49er website, and hundreds of 49er fans are disgusted with her:

She needs to apologize for her comments ASAP. Until then, I will do my best to make sure no 49er grads watch your newscast or buy from your sponsors.

regards,

Isn’t her name Danielle, not Daniel? He might not know who you are talking about, but it is kind of funny you called her a boy.

I hope someone points out all these threads to her, so she can see what a disgrace she is.

I’m very dissapointed to hear this. I’ve seen her give plenty of love to the 49ers on the air, even throwing up her picks one time.

Like metro said this is a slap in the face. I guess it was just an on air facade…

Why does every Charlotte grad that is on TV/radio, that claims to be a 49er ‘supporter’, have to be a Holes fan?? I guess they are like all the other sheep out there.

Eh she’s garbage.

I’m not sure how this contest is working on Packers show.

Normally I would encourage Niners to call or vote a fellow Niner through, in contests like that. But due to the recent news we received about Ms. Trotta, I believe we should try to help this girl win the contest instead. Oh, the irony. Lutzzzz!

I’ll have to go with my local, Nicole Ducouer. She is a doll baby in person. The only problem (other than being a WVU grad) is being a fan of the Pittsburgh teams and they talk about that some mornings.

And while not an anchor FOX8’s Leah Beno will turn some heads.

Ms. Trotta must be going by these guidlines…

8. Take on the identity of the team and its fan base
You have put in the work. You have spent more than $100 on T-shirts, hats and other stuff. You have dedicated some 30 minutes of time to researching your new team. No one can question your commitment now! So feel free to start referring to the team not as “them” but as “we.” Call yourself a member of “[Team X] Nation.” And make sure to talk about all your suffering. You, a devoted lifetime fan, have waited so long for a championship! For it was days and days ago that your beloved Celtics won a championship. And four long months before that when your Giants won the Super Bowl. The humanity! Won’t someone save you? Will you not get to experience 100 championships in your lifetime?
metro, you’re a true niner patriot.

I’ve always thought it’d be a cool idea to create a ‘Charlotte Above All Else’ initiative. Maybe someone can create a snazzy design for a t-shirt that says Charlotte is your #1 team above ANY ONE else so people can wear them proudly and get the word out. Start selling them or giving them out. If people see people wearing a shirt that says Charlotte or 49ers Above All Else maybe the idea would stick into people’s minds and they’d join the idea, especially students. Maybe it could be a slogan for Niner Nation, and they could add it to the tshirts.

If people start realizing putting your own school first is “cool”, maybe they’d be convinced to put the 49ers first from now on. Mob mentality, and all that.

Just read through a couple of those bandwagon articles. Hilarious!!! Thanks for posting.

I didn’t hear the show but it sounds like you guys may be a little hard on her.
She is in the media and she does throw us some love.

The question is ’ who would she pull for if the niners and heels were playing each other’?

I hate to say this, but if you are in a media position like her, you almost have to pick Carolina or Duke in basketball for general conversation points.

That said, they do not have to be your first team and you should not say that is your favorite thing to do if you claim to be a niner first.

What??? That makes no sense. There is no justification for that, she can pull for the Niners and say it on the air. Who cares??? This is CHARLOTTE not Chapel Hill. For general conversation points that just doesn’t make any sense, if anything it would create good conversation if she said she was pulling for the Niners.

Eason, no one else has responded to this yet but I LOVE this idea. I’d buy a shirt (or 3) with that on it!

Next year when Carolina, Duke or both are making a final four run, she can talk about how the niners almost won their NIT game. That will get a lot of the WBTV fan base excited and keep their attention. I did not say that she should pick them over the niners, but I understand that she needs to side with either Carolina or Duke and play it up to the fan base. I don’t like it, but that is the way it is. Fire Away. If we are in the big dance, I would expect her to come decked out in full green.
