David Booker - 2006 sf/pf

That’s just it. I think we’ll probably have one transfer(JL), which makes two schollies then. IMHO, the fact that Andersen has not officially signed, concerns me too which would make three. But heck, just a bored guy guessing here anyway. Season’s over, what else can I do?

JL is 99% gone unless him and Bobby somehow magically mend the differences. We have no need for him next year assuming that Carlos Williams comes in and performs at the level he is apparently at. It would make since to keep JL for a backup but I dont think we will. I think Lee will see time at the PG again next like he did this year.

Anderson has signed! Lutz talked about all the signees on the radio show. It’s also in the Observer this morning as well. So at this point, we have 3 freshman and 2 JUCOS signed for next year. Hopefully soon to add Booker.
New article out on Booker on Rivals, SAYS WE LEAD!!! Has us over UConn!!!

Great news! Obviously UCONN is trying to get in late. I loved his quote about how he liked his visit here last weekend. He can get minutes next year which he can’t do at UCONN.

Thanks Lefty, that IS good news on both counts. I hadn’t had a chance to read the Disturber yet…too busy changing diapers. But we could still have one more schollie come free even if Book signs, right…depending on whether a certain someone transfers?

J4Life, is that something you know or are you speculating?

Scout.com lists him as 6’8" 215, PF.

Fingers are crossed.

Has he visited the campus?

Here is another Sun Herald Article, again we are the leader:

ACT is 21 in this article. I hope we land him, lutz will have so many freshmen, i think i just shat a brick.

Here is what Northwestern is saying, they cant stop talking about what his ACT score is compared to his scoring average and what he can do for the team. They also go on to call us second rate and a mid major, which is pretty big coming from a team that hasnt went to the post season INCLUDING THE NIT in i think 12 years

If Tatum comes too, we could have 5 freshmen!!! Wow!

All the people that complain that we just sign JUCOs can shut up now.

His stats look great and all, but what’s his level of competition? With numbers like that, you would think several SEC(Miss, Miss. St., Ala, Auburn) programs would be all over him, yet the’re not. We can always use quality big men, but what’s the down side to his game?
Fingers are crossed.

Yes, he was here last weekend. From the Rivals story:
“I loved the atmosphere at Charlotte. I loved everything about the campus and the city. I really like Coach Lutz a lot. Also, it is a good opportunity for me to play right away.”
They don’t look at numbers, they look at the player.

You also have to consider what other schools need at this point of the recruiting game. Some schools have full classes already, some schools are looking at different players. Some schools simply whiffed, and some schools might not see the recruit the same way we do.

What I do know is that a lot of the players we shoot for and barely miss out on wind up being very, very good players.

I’m also willing to be this thread has prompted some phone calls.

Edit: Someone get Booker’s image in their avatar, that’s good karma. I wanna reach Moksha in '07.

Uh…that’s my point. What was it about his game did the SEC schools not like to cause them not to offer him? I really and truly hope he works out great, but just curious…that’s all.
