Only a 2 star on scout.com with little information on him. He had a story in the paper today which is why I know about him. He says most schools in NC have shown an interest in him. Any idea if we are one of them? Said he visited Davidson and a UNC Charlotte basketball camp last summer.
He doesn’t shoot well, he’s inconsistent with rebounds, he’s strong defensively, but they think he could grow 1-2 more inches which would put him at 7’3. He sounds like he has a good work ethic and is real close at Concord HS (19-1 record).
I’m not too knowledgeable about recruiting, but hes someone to watch I reckon.
He’s had mention on here before (I being one who mentioned him at a time), I just don’t know how good he is. He seems rather uncoordinated and slow a foot.

Yea I did a search and nothing came up. That's what it sounds like to me in the article. I just think if the kid works hard he could do something. Being 7'3 makes it a lot easier to get by with not-so-excellent skills.
Doesn't look much like Phaler to me haha.

Note interested. We went after a similar kid a few years back named Damien Grant. It was between us and the Holes. The guy went to Chapel Hell and was total garbage.
Players that tall and that uncoordinated hurt more than they help.
He’s at least 7’2 now, and will probably grow more. Hes just a junior this year and has improved a bit since the season has went on. I used to shoot hoops with him when I was in high school a few years ago…hes pretty good right around the hoop. Hes just so big, hes not very coordinated and pretty slow. I’ve seen him play twice this year and he had a double double (or close to it) in one of the games. Concord runs a really fast offense so it’s really hard for him to get a place in a lineup like that. Hes already had Kentucky coaches watch him practice and hes already visited Wake Forrest. He has another year, plus more than likely a redshirt year wherever he goes. He could contribute down the road for somebody for sure. Just gotta give somebody that big some time. I don’t think he would fit well into Charlotte’s offense, but somebody will give him a shot.
I’ve said before on here that Concord has a 6’1 sophomore guard, Jacquise Moore, that is looking really good. Plays a little point and the 2 guard, is a great rebounder and can finish well around the basket. Hes put up 30+ three or four times this year and has a few double double’s with rebounds and assists. Had 36 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals vs. Harding in the Bojangles Tournament over Christmas. He also had 32 points and 8 assists vs. New Hanover earlier in the year. Dee Bost never put up those kinds of numbers his sophomore year at Concord.
Concord is 25-1 this year and went undefeated in the conference.
I dont know much at all about this kid, but we did have a ‘project’ come through for us once. Jermaine Parker (is that right?)…kid was like 6’11’’ or 7’0’’ and had to redshirt. Kinda slow and awkward but really developed when he became a senior and was blocking shots left and right.

Speaking of a "project," how about Gaby Ngoundjo. Not playing too much yet, but he's certainly playing better.
You can’t teach 7’3".
I’d take him on that alone. Kuehl had very limited skills and changed a lot of shots. Even Iti was a presence inside.
We’ve done worse with our schollies.

If we were lacking size, I’d take a better look at him, but until we have our backup PG/PG of the future secured this staff doesn’t need to take fliers on a 7’3" sloth.
What'd he do, score a point? I haven't noticed a difference personally. Still can't make a basket and fouls too often.
Not saying it's drastic, but his fouls over time has gotten better and his defensive output has improved too. He's even scoring some, though offense is not strong for him at all.
