Davidson to get Jordan, Curry

Davidson alumni was told at the Southern Tournament they were pretty sure of getting Michael Jordan’s son and Curry’s younger brother as he wants to play with Stephan. I know Jordon is not supposed to be that good but with Michael in the stands, think of the draw. This has already happened at Davidson with Dell Curry.

They’re awfully confident that they’ll get a 3-star player 19 months away from signing. :shades:

He and at least one of his parents attend all Davidson games. Alumni talk to them.

Yep, I bet with Dell Curry in the stands the Wildcats were able to increase attendance by at least 5 – Dell, his wife, and their other 3 children! And they’re all probably getting in on Stephen’s player comps!

I was speaking of Jordan. Curry is not rated.

Davidson.s attendance was the highest this year in history as a result of Curry and WINNING games.

I’d say it has more to do with winning games. Winning always brings fans. Most people around here know the Curry name, but he’s not a superstar like Jordan. Jordan would probably bring in fans whether the team were winning or not.

Agree 100 per cent and that is why we should recuit Jordan like he is the number one player in the state. We BLEW it big time with Curry thinking he was too small to compete in our league.

LOL, you can do better than make that statement about attendance. 3,721 bodies in a 5,700 seat arena is nothing to be excited about.

So we should recruit Jordan from Illinois like he’s the best player in NC? He’s the 8th best player now in Illinois.

That attendance is double their student body and probably about 2500 more than last year. And I was speaking of Curry and his draw due to winning games. Don’t you think we would have won more games and had higher attendance if Curry had played for us this year? And finally you need to read more closely. Where did our say the number one player in NC.

hky, don’t pull an FNZ on us. Give us REAL figures. If they went from one SoCon champhionship season to another by increasing attendance from a half-full Belk Arena to near sellouts, I want to see the numbers. And I do know where to find them but would like someone else to do the work for a change.

I repeat what I posted, 3,721 is nothing to get excited about. You note that Davidson was winning. Correct, they win and fill Belk Arena to 65.3% of capacity. The 49ers lose and fill Halton Arena to 66.2% of capacity for the season.

I’m not going to get into the discussion of figures being inflated, we know that every school does it.

Yes, when the attendance figure announcement is preceded by “Today’s paid attendance is” you know you’re not getting actual butts in the seats for that game. We can thank the NBA for that bit of “honesty”!

The point of the forum is that we blew it by not recruiting Curry! No one can dispute that. The other main point is that we should heavily recruit Curry’s younger brother and Jordon’s son. Arguring about semantics and or attendance is irrevolent and I apoligize to you and say you were right, I was wrong . Now Lets get back to the main point and need to recruiting players that will help our program and attendance.

Okay, I’ll go the question first, “Where did our say the number one player in NC.”

I’ll call BS on the attendance 2500+ in attendance, per Davidson’s web site…
2006-07 - 3721
2005-06 - 3015
2004-05 - 2884
2003-04 - 2737
2002-03 - 2956

You would think Jordon’s son would come here, so he could be close to the Bobcats and stuff. I dunno though. I wonder if we are even recruiting him?

LOL…, yeah with Davidson being so incredibly far from our campus and uptown.

Just bustin’ your chops, Gill

so is this further proof that teams like davidson and winthrop have overtaken us as a program…

or proof that we should leave the a10 and join the Socon?

ha ha. Yeah I thought about that.

But I doubt Jordon wants to drive like 40 mins to a Bobcats game. He can live with me, and drive only 15 mins.

Davidson this year:

– Southern Conference rookie of the year in Curry.
– Despite huge losses from last year’s team, conference regular-season champ.
– Conference tournanent champ.
– Attendance, both paid and fannies in the seats, up over a year ago.
– Going to the NCAA tournament.
– All their kids will graduate, because all of them have since McKillop got there.

I’d say they’ll take it.
